An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.
The slowdown in current price growth is primarily related to fuel: gasoline became noticeably more expensive less than in July, while diesel fuel became cheaper.
Indicators of core inflation, which are less influenced by one-off factors, have slightly decreased compared to July. However, they were higher than in the second quarter. The situation in the fuel market played a role. In addition, due to the weakening of the ruble, imported non-food goods have become more expensive faster.
On the contrary, the growth of service prices slowed down. This was mainly due to one-off factors. For example, communication services became cheaper, and the decline in prices for domestic tourism services continued. Services with predominantly market-based pricing (medical, household, transport) became more expensive at a somewhat slower pace.
The Bank of Russia will continue to conduct monetary policy aimed at ensuring consistently low inflation. Read more in the Bank of Russia’s informational and analytical commentary. “Inflation in Russia”.
