The “Moscow Checkup” program has helped involve over 300 thousand residents of the capital in preventive care, who had not undergone examinations or had not visited city clinics at all in the past two years. This was reported by Anastasia Rakova, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Social Development.
“Many residents of the capital postpone preventive examinations until something bothers them: in the daily rhythm, current affairs often seem more important than self-care. But it is precisely prevention that allows you to timely notice risks, without waiting for alarming symptoms to appear. For this purpose, we launched the ‘Moscow Checkup’ as part of the city’s philosophy of healthy longevity. When the first step can be taken from home, and the expanded city examination package is selected personally, it is easier to include self-care even in a busy schedule. The demand for this approach is evidenced by the results: within a few months, more than 300 thousand Muscovites were attracted to prevention, people who had not undergone preventive examinations for the past two years or who had not consulted our clinics at all. Almost all of them were found to have health risk factors. Thanks to the checkup, they had the opportunity to learn about these risks and receive a clear plan for further examinations and consultations,” said Anastasia Rakova.
More than 1.5 million city residents have already joined the “Moscow Checkup,” and 700 thousand of them have completed the first online stage. Based on its results, almost half of the participants were found to have a likelihood of developing heart conditions, 40 percent – gastrointestinal diseases, and 30 percent – diabetes. Over three million laboratory and instrumental tests were scheduled for additional examination.
“Moscow Checkup” is a health care program that combines medical screening, the federal healthy longevity program, and an extended Moscow examination package into a single personalized prevention route. The checkup begins remotely through the “EMIAS.INFO” mobile application: the user fills out a questionnaire about their well-being and lifestyle, along with additional surveys, and also undergoes functional tests. In addition, the person enters body composition data obtained using smart scales or bioimpedance devices available at city locations.
The system matches this information with data from the electronic medical record, takes into account previously conducted tests and identified risk factors, and then automatically generates an individual list of analyses, examinations, and consultations. You can book them online and undergo them at the city polyclinic. The set of required procedures is determined based on the health status of the specific individual. A Muscovite receives personal recommendations and, if abnormalities are detected, is referred for consultation and in-depth examination. The program is available to all adult city residents registered with the capital’s polyclinics.
You can check individual health indicators and take the first step towards a checkup while walking around the city. As part of the “Summer in Moscow” project, pavilions are operating until the end of September at Nikitsky Boulevard, Trubnaya Square, and VDNKh. There, you can undergo a free express diagnostic in 15–20 minutes using modern equipment with artificial intelligence technologies, use neurofitness stations, and exercise machines to assess reaction and grip strength. Staff public service centers they will also explain how to join the “Moscow Checkup.”

Moscow has been developing digital technologies in healthcare for more than 10 years. The basis of this work has become a unified platform, which is being improved by the capital’s Department of Health and Department of Information Technology. Digital solutions make it possible to support the patient at all stages — from the initial consultation and diagnosis to treatment, assessment of its results, and further monitoring. This approach aligns with the objectives of the national project “A long and active life”. More about Russia’s national projects and the capital’s contribution can be found at special page.
