At “Active Citizen” a series of votes dedicated to the “Summer in Moscow” project has ended. The residents of the capital shared their impressions of the festivals “Theatrical Boulevard” and “Gardens and Flowers”, chose the best district sites and seasonal spaces on the Boulevard Ring. This was reported by Natalya Sergunina, Deputy Mayor of Moscow.
“The votes gathered over two million opinions. Muscovites evaluated the decoration of the venues, the atmosphere, and the program of events, noting what they liked the most,” said Natalya Sergunina.
Dramatic performances and creative meetings
One of the main cultural events of the warm season is the “Theatre Boulevard” festival. It brought together 400 groups from more than 60 cities in Russia — from Moscow and Kaliningrad to Novosibirsk and Vladivostok. Artists from other countries also performed their programs, including Kazakhstan, Belarus, China, Indonesia, Argentina, and Mexico.
This year, new venues were added to the festival’s traditional locations: on Pushkinskaya Embankment in Gorky Park and on Tsarskaya Embankment at the Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve. These very locations became the leaders in the number of votes.
City residents highly appreciated not only the design of the spaces but also the variety of the repertoire: more than 1,200 productions in various genres were presented. Among those that were especially interesting to the audience were dramatic plays, operettas, and musicals.
“Summer in Moscow” at home
Sites of the program operated in various districts of Moscow “My District”. Concerts, plays, lectures, sports competitions, and other events were regularly held for visitors.
One of the most popular spaces was located in the Sosenki park. Here, everyone could find an activity to their liking: learn something new in a master class or spend time with friends playing air hockey and panna football.
In addition, the leaders included sites at the Lyublino museum-estate, the parks of the Troitskoye estate, and the 70th Anniversary of Victory park.
Green recreational areas
The landscape festival “Gardens and Flowers” once again delighted city residents with picturesque venues: dozens of green oases appeared on streets, squares, and boulevards.
According to the voting results, the best design is at the “Library Garden” near the Russian State Library. Here, among lindens, pines, and flowering shrubs, there are cozy areas for reading and relaxation.
Among the top three favorites were also the Big Stone Bridge, adorned with lush greenery and colorful petunias, and the flowering gallery at Revolution Square, where they created a real tropical corner with banana trees, olives, and strelitzias.

Walks along the Boulevard Ring
One of the key walking routes of the season ran along the capital’s boulevards. Each of them featured its own design and program of events for cultural, educational, and active recreation.
The greatest preference of “active citizens” was given to Petrovsky Boulevard. Here, residents and visitors of the capital held photo shoots in gazebos with wicker lampshades and painted en plein air.
The second place was taken by Tsvetnoy Boulevard, brightly decorated in keeping with the nearby circus. In third place is Pokrovsky Boulevard. Cozy spaces have been arranged there: flower pots and fruit trees have been placed, and deck chairs installed.
Project “Summer in Moscow” — the key event of the season, which has already become a good tradition and an integral part of the city’s life. The main theme this year is “Time to be together,” and the goal of all the events is to unite and bring closer the residents of the capital.
