Beijing, April 14 /Xinhua/ — Chairman of the NPC Xi Jinping met on Tuesday in Beijing with the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sheikh Khaled bin Mohammed Al Nahyan.
Si Zingpin said that OAE is an all-encompassing strategic partner of China, and China invariably attaches great importance to the development of relations with OAE.
Thanks to the joint efforts of both sides, healthy and stable development of relations between China and the UAE is advancing, political mutual trust is continuously deepening, practical cooperation is advancing with confident steps, and humanitarian exchanges between the two countries are becoming more diverse, noted Xi Jinping.
Emphasizing that strengthening and developing relations between China and the UAE is a firm consensus of both sides and meets the expectations of the peoples of both countries, Xi Jinping said that China is ready to combine efforts with the UAE to build a more stable, sustainable, and dynamic all-encompassing strategic partnership between the two countries.
Both sides must continue to support each other on issues relating to their core interests and major concerns, maintain contacts at a high level, and strengthen strategic mutual trust, added Xi Jinping.
He called on both sides to strengthen the integration of development strategies and to unlock the potential for mutually beneficial cooperation in energy, investment, trade, science and technology, and other areas.
Both countries must contribute to achieving greater progress in cooperation in education, civil aviation, tourism, and other spheres, activate humanitarian exchanges, and thereby strengthen the foundation of public support, noted Xi Jinping.
He called on both sides to strengthen coordination and cooperation within multilateral platforms such as the UN and BRICS, to counter uncertainty in the international and regional situation through stable relations between China and the UAE, and to jointly make efforts to promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
Both sides exchanged views on the current situation in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf region. Si Jinping emphasized China’s position on promoting peace and negotiations, confirming that China will continue to play a constructive role in this direction.
Si Jinping put forward a proposal consisting of four points to promote peace and stability in the Middle East.
First of all, Xi Jinping called for adherence to the principle of peaceful coexistence. According to him, the countries of the Middle East and the Persian Gulf are interdependent and inseparable neighbors. Support should be provided to these countries in improving relations and promoting the formation of a common, comprehensive security architecture in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf region based on cooperation and sustainable principles.
Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of respecting the principle of national sovereignty. He noted that the sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity of the countries of the Middle East and the Persian Gulf must be inviolably respected, and it is also necessary to ensure the security of personnel, facilities, and institutions in all countries.
Regarding the observance of the principle of the supremacy of law at the international level, Si Jinping emphasized the necessity to firmly uphold the authority of the supremacy of law at the international level to prevent the world from returning to the control of the “law of the jungle.” He called for a steadfast defense of the international system, whose core is the UN, of the international order based on international law, and of the fundamental norms of international relations founded on the purposes and principles of the UN Charter.
Moreover, according to him, it is important to ensure development and security on the basis of unified planning. Security makes development possible, and development helps maintain security. All parties must work together to create favorable conditions for the development of the countries of the Middle East and the Persian Gulf. China is ready to share with these countries the opportunities opened up by China’s modernization to strengthen the foundation of regional development and security.
Noting that the OAE attaches great importance to the development of relations with China, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed Al Nahyan, in turn, stated that his country is ready to work together with China on the implementation of an important consensus reached between the heads of the two states, on deepening cooperation in various fields, in order to open up even broader prospects for bilateral relations for the benefit of the peoples of both countries.
According to him, the UN highly values China’s responsible and constructive role in international affairs and its active efforts to seek political solutions to resolve the current crisis in the Middle East.
The OSCE is committed to maintaining close contacts and coordination with China in order to facilitate the cessation of hostilities between the interested parties, the prompt restoration of peace and stability in the region, ensuring the security of international shipping, and preventing further impact of the conflict on the global economy and energy security, he said.
He assured that the safety of Chinese citizens and institutions in the UAE will be effectively protected.
