The development of a 15-year-old participant in the GUU project “Young Innovators” won a grant at the demo day of the acceleration program “Academy of Innovators.”
The UMKA project was created by a team of young engineers from the State University of Management, led by 15-year-old Artem Nikitin, who became the youngest participant in the 9th cohort of the accelerator.
Despite their age, the young people participating in the “Young Innovators” project at our university managed to create a startup that entered the top 10 of the “Innovators Academy,” was presented at the program’s demo day, and earned the team a grant from the financial university SF Education for a one-year access to the educational platform.
The development by the engineers of GUU is a smart bin that automatically sorts waste using a trained artificial intelligence model. The jury members highly appreciated the project, noting the fact that most of the Demo Day solutions were various digital services, while Artem demonstrated to the experts a full-fledged engineering product — a working prototype device. All participants and guests at the event were able to evaluate the work of the smart bin “UMKA” at the exhibition of innovative solutions.
Another event of the demo day was the “roasting” of projects by residents of the Innovators Academy, in which the founder of the HOLTERTECH startup, master’s student of GUU Mikhail Zorin, took part and presented his development to the experts – the ECG-pulse meter Chrono C1, which monitors the athlete’s condition during training and helps control the load levels. It is worth noting that on August 22, Mikhail, together with the project team, presented his first pre-production pulse meter prototype at an exhibition in Skolkovo.
