The capital summed up the results of the educational project “Moscow. Traditions. People.” Since February, local history lectures and walking tours have been held in all districts of the city. Audiences were told about the stages of development of different districts and famous Muscovites, including heroes of the Great Patriotic War, figures of culture and art.
“One of the project’s tasks is to show that everyone can contribute to preserving the capital’s heritage. Experts told participants not only about the history of VDNH, the Lyublino estate, or the Kolomenskoye museum-reserve, but also about how to properly work with archival documents and photographs,” she noted

More than 1,200 people attended the excursions and lectures. During the walks, city residents saw the Moscow Palace of Pioneers, the building of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Catherine Palace, the Moscow Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Academic Musical Theatre, as well as the ZIL Cultural Center.
At the lectures, listeners were told about the Rostokino Division, which more than 11 thousand volunteers joined in 1941, the life of the writer Korney Chukovsky in Peredelkino, the poets of the Silver Age, and the reflection of Moscow in their work.
Another part of the project was an online competition. Its participants prepared stories about the country’s heroes, outstanding residents, and the architectural heritage of the capital. The jury selected finalists in each of the 12 districts, after which the winners were determined by Muscovites through voting in the project. “Active Citizen”.
