The new station “General Karbyshev Boulevard” of the Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya metro line has been decorated with 12 bas-reliefs. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Policy and Construction. Vladimir Efimov.
“Moscow continues to develop its metro system. Since 2011, the city has built and reconstructed over 270 kilometers of new lines and opened 130 metro stations. ‘General Karbyshev Boulevard’ is one of the five stations opened on City Day as part of the new Rublyovo-Arkhangelsk radius. The design of the facility is dedicated to the history of the engineering troops and the feat of Lieutenant General Dmitry Karbyshev — Hero of the Soviet Union, legendary sapper and military engineer. This is a tribute to all military engineers who at various times defended our Motherland. The architectural solution of the station combines modern technology and monumental art, and the bas-reliefs have become its main decoration. They reflect four historical periods: the First and Second World Wars, the Afghan conflict, and the special military operation,” said Vladimir Efimov.
The bas-reliefs were created by the M.B. Grekov Military Artists Studio. During the work, the masters used authentic details — helmets, awards, and other elements — to convey historical accuracy with high precision. For example, the helmets from the First World War feature rivets that are also reproduced on the bas-reliefs.
Minister of the Moscow Government, Head of the Department of Urban Planning Policy Vladislav Ovchinsky He specified that 11 out of the 12 bas-reliefs are made of white glazed glass fiber reinforced concrete. Eight reliefs are installed on a platform measuring 0.8 by 4.2 meters, two sculptural medallions measuring 0.8 by 0.6 meters are located in the ticket hall. A large panel measuring 5.2 by 1.34 meters is situated above the stair descent to the platform, its theme dedicated to the installation of a pontoon bridge. The bronze bas-relief depicting Lieutenant General Dmitry Karbyshev, measuring 3.5 by 8.5 meters, is placed on the wall of the building for the locomotive crews’ rest.
Additional decorative elements at the station include picturesque panels above the staircases descending from the ground-level pavilions featuring the coats of arms of the engineering troops, and eight brass stars on the track walls.
The station “General Karbyshev Boulevard” was built as part of the Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya line. Its opening has significantly improved transport accessibility for residents of the northwest of the capital.
“Sergey Sobyanin inaugurated the opening of the first section of the Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya line between the ‘Delovoy Tsentr’ and ‘General Karbyshev Boulevard’ stations. The launch of this section improved transportation services for more than 550 thousand residents across five districts of Moscow. Passengers are served exclusively by modern trains of Russian manufacture, ‘Moscow-2026’. The opening of the new line has become a powerful impetus for the capital’s development. We expect that more than 90 thousand trips will be made daily through the new stations,” noted the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.
Earlier, Sergey Sobyanin instructed to accelerate construction rates Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya metro line.
