At Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, students from Slavic universities began their studies. The program, implemented for the third consecutive year, expanded its geography: alongside the traditional participants from the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University named after the first President of the Russian Federation B. N. Yeltsin (KRSU), students from the Belarusian-Russian University (BRU) joined for the first time. In total, 38 KRSU students and seven BRU students started classes in the autumn semester of the 2026/2027 academic year.
In 2024 and 2025, the program exclusively involved students from KRSU — over two years, 80 people completed their studies at SPbPU. The current, third cohort marks a new stage in the development of interuniversity cooperation: the inclusion of the Belarusian university makes the project truly integrative within the framework of the Union State.
The ceremonial welcome was the first official event for the arriving students. Deputy Head of the International Cooperation Department Nikita Golovin and Deputy Head of the International Educational Programs and Academic Mobility Department Anna Kuznetsova addressed the guests.
The third year of network interaction between Polytech and Slavic universities marks a new stage: for the first time, students from the Belarusian-Russian University have joined those from Kyrgyzstan. For us, this is not only an expansion of geography but also the formation of truly trilateral academic cooperation. We see how the idea of integration is taking real shape in shared classrooms and laboratories. I am confident that joint studies will allow you not only to master advanced skills but also to build strong interpersonal and professional connections that will stay with you for life,” welcomed the participants Nikita Golovin.
During the meeting, the boys were told about the university, its key research projects, and prospects for international students. A campus tour and a visit to the History Museum of SPbPU were organized for the guests.
Participation in the academic mobility program will allow students to develop and enhance professional competencies, broaden their educational experience, and become acquainted with new approaches to learning. We are confident that the implementation of such programs will contribute to strengthening already established inter-university connections and expanding opportunities for collaborative educational activities, — noted Anna Kuznetsova.
Training of students from KRSU and BRU will be conducted under the following bachelor’s degree programs: “Industrial and Civil Construction,” “Architectural Environment Design,” “Technosphere Safety,” “Technology of Developing and Supporting Quality Software Products,” “Mobile Communication Systems,” “Integrated Electronics and Nanoelectronics,” as well as under the master’s degree program “Design and Calculation of Building Structures, Buildings, and Facilities.”
As in previous years, foreign students will study in regular academic groups alongside Russian students. They will need to master the same subjects as their peers at home to avoid any academic debts when returning to their universities. At the end of the semester, all participants in the program will be given documents with their academic results in a grading system.
Our motivation for studying at Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University was the desire to gain in-depth knowledge of languages and to become acquainted with the cultural values of St. Petersburg. And the reality exceeded our expectations: professional teachers engage students in discussions and conduct dialogues with them. The practice-oriented approach proved especially valuable to us: many classes take the form of seminars and case study analyses. We are also attracted by the close proximity of the dormitories to the academic buildings,” shared BRU student Ksenia Skorokhodova.
Representatives of specialized institutes will become the educational process curators from SPbPU: the Humanities Institute, the Engineering and Construction Institute, the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunications, and the Institute of Computer Science and Cybersecurity.
Students were also informed about the facilities of the university’s sports complex, where there are sections for volleyball, basketball, football, swimming, boxing, and other sports.
We were impressed by the scale of the university, its modern infrastructure, and the atmosphere that combines education, technology, and scientific research. Participating in the network program with the Polytechnic University is an interesting experience and an opportunity to see how the educational process is organized at one of the leading technical universities in Russia, — said KRSU student Ulan Azamatov.
The admission of students from KRSU and BRU became another step in the development of the “Slavic Universities” project, and the expansion of participants confirms the demand for academic exchanges between universities of Russia, Kyrgyzstan, and Belarus.
