Dmitry Patrushev: Russia is interested in strengthening strategic cooperation with Jordan

In Moscow, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Patrushev and Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Yarub Qudah held the seventh meeting of the Intergovernmental Russian-Jordanian Commission for the Development of Trade, Economic, and Scientific-Technical Cooperation. The parties discussed cooperation between the two states in the fields of industry, the agricultural sector, geology, healthcare, education, and other areas.

“The Russian Federation and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan are united by traditionally friendly relations. This is evidenced by the long-standing dialogue between the leaders of our countries. We are interested in strengthening strategic cooperation to implement joint mutually beneficial projects. I hope that within the framework of the commission meeting it will be possible to outline promising directions for further development of our partnership,” said Dmitry Patrushev.

In the first half of the current year, the volume of mutual trade increased by one third. A significant part of the turnover between the two countries consists of agricultural product supplies. In addition, the Russian side sees great potential in cooperation in the field of industry.

Russia is also ready to share experience in the field of geological exploration.

In healthcare, current priority areas for cooperation include workforce training, the use of digital technologies, the prevention and treatment of diseases, as well as the supply of medical products.

“We expect that the results of today’s meeting will contribute to the implementation of our joint projects and the further development of cooperation between Russia and Jordan,” Dmitry Patrushev concluded.

Following the event, the Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation and the Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan signed the final protocol of the seventh meeting of the Russian-Jordanian Intergovernmental Commission for the Development of Trade-Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation. Documents on cooperation between the customs authorities and ministries of health of the two countries were also signed.

The Intergovernmental Russian-Jordanian Commission for the Development of Trade, Economic, and Scientific-Technical Cooperation has been operating since 2013. The chairman of the Russian part of the commission since June 16, 2018, is Dmitry Patrushev. The Jordanian part has been headed by the Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Yaarub Koudah, since September 2024. The previous, sixth meeting was held via videoconference on February 2, 2022.
