Reducing the debt burden of the regions remains one of the Government’s priority tasks. Work on this is being carried out on the President’s instructions. Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed an order to write off two-thirds of the budget loan debt totaling about 1 billion rubles to two more regions – the Kurgan and Jewish Autonomous Oblasts.

The freed-up resources can be directed by regional authorities towards the implementation of promising projects in various sectors of the economy, the creation of favorable conditions for business operations, and the formation of a comfortable environment for citizens.

Commenting on the decision taken at Government meeting, Mikhail Mishustin emphasized that the write-off of two-thirds of the debt on budget loans proposed by the head of state has become an effective mechanism for supporting the regions.

According to him, more than 80% of the regions have already taken advantage of this opportunity. As a result, they were able to upgrade the utility networks and deploy modern and comfortable public transport on the routes.
