Specialists from the Tyumen Scientific Institute, together with specialists from the Center for the Development and Implementation of High-Tech Technologies (part of Rosneft), have improved the software package “RN-Petrolog” by creating a module for constructing digital models of rocks. At the same time, the processing speed of the package has been increased by more than 2 times.
A key feature of the development is the ability to determine the mineral composition of the rock (quartz, dolomite, feldspars, clays, and other minerals) and to reconstruct the spatial distribution of terrigenous and carbonate rocks (sandstones, limestones, clays). The module also allows determining the properties and content of formation fluids in the pore space of the rock, taking into account pressure, temperature, and the component composition of hydrocarbons (methane, ethane, propane, and others).
Today in “RN-PETROLOG” the data of more than 80% of newly fractured wells in the Company are interpreted. The economic effect from the implementation of the software due to the elimination of costs for the acquisition and technical support of third-party software exceeds 200 million rubles per year.
