Beijing, September 9 /Xinhua/ — The development of trade in services and the promotion of openness and cooperation in the service sector is not only China’s choice but also a necessity for the entire world. This was stated on Wednesday by Ding Xuexiang, Vice Premier of the State Council of the PRC.
Ding Xuesong, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made a corresponding statement while delivering the keynote speech at the ongoing 2026 Global Summit on Trade in Services in Beijing.
According to him, China is actively promoting the development of trade in services and expanding the openness of the services sector, thereby creating more new opportunities for countries and enterprises around the world.
The Vice Premier of the State Council emphasized that in the context of accelerated changes in the international trade and economic landscape, it is necessary to ensure the mutual stimulation of the development of the services sector and trade in services in order to more effectively support the socio-economic development of all countries.
Noting the guiding role of openness in the development of trade in services, Ding Xuesong called for measures to reduce barriers to the cross-border movement of factors of production and to promote further liberalization and simplification of trade in services procedures. He expressed confidence that such efforts would help ensure sustainable and long-term sector development on a fair and inclusive basis.
Din Xuesheng also called on countries to promote the joint use of digital and intelligent technologies, such as artificial intelligence, and to advance the interconnectedness of global digital infrastructure in order to give a strong impetus to the development of trade in services.
This year, the summit is jointly organized by the People’s Government of Beijing, the Ministry of Commerce of the PRC, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), and the World Intellectual Property Organization. –0–
