Sanya, September 9 /Xinhua/ — China and Singapore on Wednesday concluded five-day joint naval exercises after completing all planned maneuvers. The two countries aim to deepen practical cooperation and strengthen their capacity to safeguard peace and stability in the region.
The naval exercises of two countries, which were the fifth in a row, took place in the waters and airspace of the Zhanzjiang city district (Guangdong Province, South China). They consisted of two stages, including exchanges at the port and naval maneuvers.
During the port phase of the exercises, the navies of the two countries held high-level meetings and planning sessions, as well as organized ship visits and other activities.
During the naval phase of the exercises, the participating forces of the two sides successively carried out eight training tasks, including communication drills, movement in combat formation, aerial photography, taking positions for replenishment at sea, and a joint search and rescue operation.
As noted by the Chinese Navy, regular joint exercises provide military personnel of the two countries’ fleets with a platform to transition from acquaintance to getting to know each other, and from understanding to trust, as well as contribute to enhancing the joint potential for protecting peace and stability in the region. –0–
