General Director of KAMAZ Sergei Kogogin and his First Deputy – Executive Director of the company Irek Gumerov visited the Press Frame Plant.

Company executives familiarized themselves with the pilot implementation of a full MES system at the PRZ, as well as saw the changes that have occurred in production recently. MES is software for real-time operational production management, a digital coordinator with deep AI integration. At KAMAZ, it is being implemented for autonomous management of workshop processes. The system is accessible from any device, from computer to smartphone. It allows for tracking working hours, controlling deliveries, equipment status, and creating tasks for employees. In the future, MES will be scaled to all enterprises of the group of companies.

“At PRZ, three workshops are connected to the MES system. We arranged it so that the system can be replicated across all KAMAZ plants without any significant modifications.”, – he reported Roman Batrasov, Director of Innovation and Digital Product Implementation at Digital Platform KAMAZ LLC.

The project manager of the “KAMAZ Digital Platform,” Albert Galimzhanov, provided a detailed introduction to the developments. He noted that based on the schedule, a task is formed, and it has its own directions. The system can check the workshops’ supply levels by inventory. There is an option to generate a report.

Today I watched the first stage, it concerns planning and system introduction. We discussed that by the end of the year we will implement the second stage, – he concluded Sergey Kogogin. – T the distribution of the system also began to other workshops of the plant and across KAMAZ as a whole. It is very important that we are creating our own MES system, standard and convenient for our production, which will significantly increase transparency, reduce parts inventory, and increase labor productivity..

Company executives and representatives of the plant discussed labor productivity and implemented changes during a tour of the production. The CEO of KAMAZ was shown how the fuel tank assembly line was modernized. For example, some operations were relocated, and sections were rebalanced. On the fuel tank assembly and welding line, flows were separated: small-capacity tanks with small cross-sections went down the first line, while tanks for K3 generation vehicles went down the second. This allowed labor productivity to increase from 0.98 to 1.17. Roller conveyors were installed, which improved workplace ergonomics. Whereas previously it took four to five minutes to produce a fuel tank, now this time has been reduced to three minutes.

The relocation of aluminum fuel tanks along the PTC is the second significant innovation. “Previously, we transported fuel tanks from the warehouse by truck, loading 36 pieces into the body. But we managed to move away from the ‘space, transport, personnel’ scheme – now the tanks go through the PTK to the site where they are lowered and mounted onto the required vehicle.” – shared Acting Deputy Executive Director for Press Production Evgeny Leonov.

Attention was also paid to other changes. Ildar Asylgaraev, the director of the welding and painting plant, explained that previously all parts were delivered in common containers and had to be sorted. Now they are packaged separately and sent to three special zones. Zone “A” is intended for fast-moving items, “B” for medium-paced ones, and zone “C” receives original nomenclature.

Another topic of discussion was staffing the chassis shop with welders. The company head was informed of the work underway in this direction. Thus, a group of seven KamAZ workers ready to master a related profession has already been formed. There are also plans to recruit groups of 10 people for training.

“Question No. 1 – personnel workload. The main thing is that they work in the planned direction. And the physical burden on the worker should decrease. Your changes show that it has become easier for people to work, – emphasized Sergey Kogogin. – Everything is moving in a positive direction. People have started looking for solutions on how to change and simplify details, reduce costs. It is necessary to ensure that everyone in their workplace thinks about cost reduction.
