Developers can use ready-made open source solutions on the city cloud platform “Mos.Hub” to create new or refine existing projects. This allows reducing the time and resources needed to bring finished products to market. As noted in the capital’s Department of Information Technology, the platform becomes a catalyst for the development of open source in Russia and forms a community around its own open source products.
Platform “Mos.Hub” offers IT professionals everything necessary for software development (SD). Here you can not only create and develop projects but also improve code quality, work as a team, and reuse ready-made solutions. To date, more than 34 thousand projects have been published on the platform, and most of them are built on open source principles.
“The use of open solutions allows saving months in software creation and frees up resources for the development of fundamentally new products. At the same time, open source is gradually turning into a space for knowledge exchange, discussions about architecture, and joint development of optimal solutions. As a result, not only does the quality of development improve, but a professional community also forms, united by a common goal—to strengthen the domestic technological base. Today, the center of this model in Russia is the urban cloud platform ‘Mos.Hub’, which is visited by developers from more than 80 regions of the country and specialists from more than 90 countries worldwide,” said Alexey Anisimov, Deputy Head of the Moscow Department of Information Technology.
At platform companies host libraries, automation tools, interface components, SDKs, and other infrastructure solutions. Among the participants is the developer of building information modeling systems Renga Software, which has published plugins and components for exploring interfaces and creating third-party add-ons.
Positive Technologies has opened access to Runtime Radar: the tool allows tracking incidents in real time and does not require purchasing a commercial equivalent. The developer of the Russian mobile operating system “Aurora,” the company “Open Mobile Platform,” has transferred its main open-source projects to the “Mos.Hub” platform. These can be used to create software for corporate tasks, cryptoprotection applications, messengers, and payment tools. The company specializing in mobile applications, web services, and backend systems, Effective, has posted the source code of Meeting Room, an application for booking meeting rooms in the office, on the platform.
Open solutions allow developers and businesses to significantly reduce costs, including licensing fees, accelerate development through ready-made modules, and also reduce technological dependence on foreign suppliers and the risks of sudden access blocking. In addition, open code is available for auditing by independent experts, which helps identify vulnerabilities faster than licensed software. For companies, publishing their own open source solutions provides the opportunity to receive feedback from the community, improve corporate development standards, and attract qualified specialists.
On the Mos.Hub platform, developers have access not only to a project catalog but also to a full set of tools for work. Among them — “Mos.Viki” for joint documentation management, “Mos. Track” for managing IT projects and tasks, as well as the KoDIT chatbot based on generative artificial intelligence, which answers programming questions, writes code, and helps improve it.
Users of the platform also have access to the “Community” section for developers’ communication and the “Organizations” module for managing company profiles and conducting presentations. Additionally, there is an option to publish educational materials and useful articles. To start using the platform, it is necessary to log in via Mos ID or an account from one of the Russian platforms. All services are provided free of charge to Russian IT specialists.
In addition to the online platform, the Moscow Department of Information Technology opened a business space for the IT community at the end of last year “MosHub. Skolkovo”. Various events take place here — from hackathons and lectures to industry conferences and awards. For example, at the end of June, the first event was held at the venue Open Code Day. The main goal of the «MosHub. Skolkovo» space is to create a unified expert environment for the joint development of innovative solutions, accelerating their implementation, and developing the domestic IT industry.
The capabilities of the Mos.Hub platform were evaluated by developers from more than 90 countriesFor the first time, “Open Code Day” was held in Moscow
