The X season of the All-Russian Student Olympiad “I am a Professional” has started. This is the flagship project of the Presidential platform “Russia – Land of Opportunities.” Over ten years, the “I am a Professional” Olympiad has become one of the largest platforms for developing the professional potential of students. Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University traditionally acts as the organizer of the Olympiad in the direction of “Mechanical Engineering.”
To date, more than 1.6 million students from all regions of Russia and 147 countries worldwide have participated in the olympiad. The number of fields has grown from 27 in the first season to 68 in the anniversary 10th season, and the number of organizing universities has increased from 10 to 37. Today, the olympiad ecosystem includes more than 1,100 participating universities and over 750 employers, who help students gain practical experience, complete internships, and build professional career paths.
The All-Russian Student Olympiad “I am a professional” is part of the national project “Youth and Children,” implemented by the decision of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin. The project is aimed at supporting young people, developing their professional potential, and creating conditions for self-realization.
Registration for participation in the 10th season will be open until November 10, 2026. Participants in the project can be bachelor’s, specialist’s, and master’s students from Russian universities, regardless of the form of study.
The First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation, Sergey Kiriyenko, sent a greeting message to the participants, organizers, and partners of the All-Russian Student Olympiad “I am a Professional.”
For ten seasons, the “I am a Professional” Olympiad has been successfully addressing the tasks set by the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, on training in-demand qualified specialists capable of responding to modern challenges. During this period, more than 1.6 million people from all regions of the Russian Federation have participated in the Olympiad, which confirms its high demand, noted Sergey Kiriyenko.
In the X season, students of Russian universities will have access to 68 fields of study. Representatives from a wide range of areas — from engineering and natural sciences to medicine, education, entrepreneurship, and digital technologies — will have the opportunity to test their knowledge and solve practical problems.
Today Russia is moving towards technological leadership — this is a national goal set by our President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. To achieve it, we need talented young personnel. This olympiad, which is part of the national project “Youth and Children,” successfully helps prepare them — it has created conditions and opportunities for the professional development of already hundreds of thousands of students. Each of them is a personnel support for Russia in various fields: from design and tourism to artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, and space exploration,” says the welcoming address of the Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko.
It should be noted that in the 9th season of the olympiad, four Polytechnic students received gold medals, three received silver, and eight received bronze. The Polytechnic University organized the olympiad in the field of “Mechanical Engineering.”
Polytechnic experts, together with industrial partners, developed comprehensive tasks that closely resemble the challenges of modern manufacturing. The final competitions were organized at the sites of active industrial giants: bachelor’s students demonstrated their skills at the facilities of JSC “Silovye Mashiny,” while for master’s and specialist students the testing took place at JSC “Scientific and Production Center “Aquamarine.” The practice-oriented model of conducting the olympiad provides students with a unique opportunity not only to test their theoretical knowledge, but also to visit production sites, see equipment in operation, and communicate with leading engineers. High competition strengthens character, teaches to make prompt decisions in non-standard situations, and to quickly and decisively achieve set goals,” noted Vitaliy Drobchik, advisor to the rectorate of SPbPU and organizer of the olympiad at the Polytechnic.
Diploma winners of the “I am a Professional” Olympiad can complete internships at major companies and benefit from advantages when entering the next level of education, while medalists will receive cash prizes of up to 300,000 rubles. The qualifying stage will take place from November 13 to 29, the final stage will run from February to April 2027, and the season results will be announced in May–June 2027.
