Moscow continues the development of the territory of the Luzhniki Olympic Complex. As part of the second phase of work, the improvement of the Luzhnetskaya Embankment begins.

During the work, specialists will resurface the asphalt on the roadway and repair the tiled pavement in the pedestrian zone. In addition, they will refurbish the bicycle and running tracks. For the comfort of athletes, drinking fountains will be installed on the embankment.

The area will become more accessible for families with children, featuring themed play zones dedicated to sports such as tennis, figure skating, and running. The playgrounds will be designed for children aged three to twelve. Foundations will be prepared this year, and the equipment will be installed in 2027. The play elements are being developed as a custom project, so time is needed for their production.

With the arrival of the warm season next year, the covering on existing workout areas will be replaced. Its color scheme will correspond to the sports disciplines of the nearby facilities: hockey, football, tennis, running, swimming, as well as extreme sports.

Due to improvement works, from September 7 the section from checkpoint No. 1 (on the side of Novodevichy Embankment) to the Central Square of the Olympic Complex “Luzhniki” will be closed. The length of the section without vehicle and pedestrian traffic will be about 1.5 kilometers. It is planned that this territory will be closed until mid-October. Then it will be opened for pedestrians, but vehicle access will be restricted due to the start of repairs at checkpoint No. 1. Alternative routes for vehicle entry and access to the territory can be found at on the Luzhniki website.

After the completion of landscaping activities on the first section, work will begin on the part of the embankment from Central Square up to checkpoint No. 5 at the intersection with Luzhniki Street. It will be closed from mid-October through December inclusive.

The implemented project for the improvement of the territory of the Olympic complex “Luzhniki” will create a multifunctional space where sport, recreation, architecture, art, and modern technologies will harmoniously combine. Not only athletes but also families with children and elderly people will find their place here. However, sport, as one form of leisure, remains its dominant feature.
