On September 26 and 27, citizens are awaited by the annual Moscow Marathon. This time, the organizers have prepared an updated route. Runners will start on Kosygin Street and finish at Luzhniki.
The route will pass through well-known places of the capital, including the embankments of the Moskva River, the Garden and Boulevard rings, Tverskaya Street, and the historic center by the Kremlin walls.
On Saturday, September 26, there will be a 10-kilometer race and a children’s run, in which athletes from four to 13 years old will participate. Depending on their age, the kids will run distances of 400 or 800 meters.
The main events are scheduled for September 27. These include the start of the 42.2-kilometer distance race and competitions in the corporate and student relays.
At the finish line, the race results will be recorded by timing systems and video recording, as well as judges.
At the 42.2-kilometer distance, prizes will be awarded in the overall standings to the participants who place from first to tenth among men and women. At the same distance, awards will also be given by age groups to participants who place from first to third among men and women. Those who win prize places in their categories will be honored separately. At the 10-kilometer distance, three men and three women with the best results will also become prize-winners.
This year, the Moscow Marathon will organize an amateur competition with prize places — specifically for those who start not from the elite athlete cluster but are ready to compete for the result. For fans and spectators, places will be allocated along the course to support the runners.
Participation in the Moscow Marathon races requires registration.
The event will be held with the support of Moscow City Department of Sports. It corresponds to the goals of the state programs of the Russian Federation “Development of physical culture and sports” and “Sport of Russia”. One of them is to increase the share of citizens who systematically engage in physical culture and sports to 70 percent by 2030. The capital makes a decisive contribution to addressing this task. Special attention is paid to the proximity of infrastructure to the home, support for families with children, as well as the integration of participants and veterans of the special military operation and their family members into the sports community.
