During the City Day celebration, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin opened the third phase of the “Dream Island” amusement park in Nagatinsky Zaton. A unique open-air extreme rides park began operating, featuring five themed zones: the “Valley of Explorers,” the “Speed Territory,” the “Dreamers’ Village,” the “City of Dreamers,” and the “Fishermen’s Bay.” After the opening of the third phase, the park grew by 200 thousand square meters.
“‘Dream Island’ is a huge world-class children’s park. We opened the first phase, then the second phase was implemented — a whole system of outdoor summer pools, one of the largest in Europe. Today, the third phase is ready. This is the open part of the park with various large unique and complex attractions covering a total area of about 200 thousand square meters. The ‘Dream Island’ park is already being visited and will be visited by millions of children and their parents from all corners of our country,” said Sergey Sobyanin.
Attractions and spaces
“Dream Island” offers its guests more than 20 mechanical attractions. Among them are those that have no analogues in Russia:
— “Free Flight” is a 68-meter rotating observation drop tower;
— “Flame of Speed” is an extreme monorail roller coaster, the first such attraction in Eastern Europe;
— “The Way of Water” is the largest water attraction in Russia, simulating a descent on rafts along turbulent river rapids;
— The “Joker” is the largest roller coaster in Russia with free-spinning cars (trolleys);
— “Legend of the Peaks” is an extreme ski slope, the fastest, longest, and highest in Europe in this configuration: the maximum skiing speed is 110 kilometers per hour, the route length is over one kilometer.
The thematic area “Fisherman’s Bay” is designed as a cozy place for walks by the water with a landscaped embankment and an original floating bridge 451 meters long, authentic fishermen’s houses, a viewing platform-amphitheater, a pier and photo zones, an outdoor food court, and dozens of art installations.
In addition to new attractions, the third phase of the “Dream Island” park includes comprehensive landscaping of the area, during which about 10,000 trees and shrubs were planted. The total length of the walking paths exceeds five kilometers. Thirty food outlets have been created — each establishment has its own style, design, and atmosphere, complementing the theme of the spaces.
Since its opening in 2020, the number of visitors to “Dream Island” has quadrupled, and in 2025 it exceeded five million people. In total, over 25 million guests visited the park in five years.
After the opening of the third phase facilities, “Dream Island” became the largest amusement park in Russia by the number of themed areas (15 zones) and entered the list of the top five amusement parks in the world by the number of mechanical rides, which exceed 60. The total construction area reached 850 thousand square meters.
The park will now be able to accommodate up to 45,000 people per day. An additional 1,800 new jobs have been created in the open part of “Dream Island,” bringing the total number of employees here to over 4,600.

The history of the creation of the amusement park “Dream Island”
To create the largest urban amusement park, “Dream Island” was chosen in the Nagatinskaya floodplain — an area of about 100 hectares, located in the south of Moscow between the historic riverbed and the modern navigable part of the Moscow River. The western border of the park is Andropov Avenue.
For many years — until the beginning of construction — Nagatinskaya floodplain was a depressed, practically unarranged area.
Alongside the emergence of Zaryadye Park, the improvement of Luzhniki, and the redevelopment of the former ZIL industrial zone and the Tushino airfield, the creation of Dream Island became one of the largest projects for the development of territories adjacent to the Moscow River.
The park project was approved by Muscovites at public hearings and in the “Active Citizen” vote: 92 percent of the city residents supported the proposed decision.
The park was built with private investor funds. Government of Moscow took on the development of transport infrastructure and some of the landscaping work for the adjacent area.
“Dream Island” was created in several stages. As part of the first phase in 2020, a cluster with a total area of 600 thousand square meters was opened, including an indoor section of 300 thousand square meters. A real city of entertainment appeared, where you can spend an interesting and useful whole day: socialize with friends or relax with the whole family, ride attractions, attend theatrical performances, grab a bite at the food court or have dinner in a themed restaurant, stroll through the shops, take photos, buy gifts for children and souvenirs.
Inside the covered section, there is a theme park dedicated to fairy tale heroes and popular cartoon characters. Among them are Mowgli, Buratino, the Snow Queen, the Smurfs, and the Ninja Turtles.
Guests of the park can visit:
— more than 50 different entertainment options, including 49 rides for children and adults;
— unique media attractions, including “On the Wings of the Wind” (the largest spherical cinema in Russia, where guests immerse themselves in the world of dinosaurs, soaring in the air), “The Abyss of the First Krang” (the first drop tower in Russia and Europe, combining a classic attraction with modern technologies), and “Race of the Future” (the first roller coaster in Russia featuring virtual reality);
— 10 themed spaces, including “The Snow Queen’s Castle,” “Mowgli in the Land of Dinosaurs,” “Fairy Tale Village,” “Abandoned House,” “Dream Race,” “Smurfs Village”;
— souvenir shops;
— themed cafes and restaurants, food trucks with ice cream, cotton candy, hot dogs, and other snacks.
There are also two spacious pedestrian galleries and two atriums in the covered part of the park, designed in the distinctive architectural styles of London and Barcelona.
The heart of this space is Moscow Square with fountains, benches, green lawns, and cafes. It is covered by the largest glass dome in Europe (8,600 square meters), which gives visitors the feeling of a summer walk in the fresh air.
In the covered area, you can also visit the concert hall “Moscow” with 4,300 seats (opened in December 2022). Since its opening, 1,100 events have been held here, attended by over 2.18 million people.
In recent years, the area of the indoor amusement park has increased by 50 percent, and the number of attractions by more than 80 percent. A new themed area “Under the Dome” has appeared, which combines eight attractions, a large children’s play area, and a unique immersive show “Beyond the Circus.”
Next to the “Island of Dreams,” a 44-hectare landscape park has been created. Here you can play on children’s playgrounds, engage in sports and yoga. In warm weather, there are places to relax by decorative ponds, sports grounds, and an open-air summer cinema.
For car owners, the amusement park has an above-ground and underground parking lot with 3,200 parking spaces.
As part of the second phase in 2023, the country’s largest beach club with public urban-style open swimming pools, Dream Beach Club, with 2,300 places, was opened in the park, attracting over 220,000 visitors annually.
In the northern part of the landscape park, a yacht club has been opened, which has all the amenities and entertainment for those who want to relax by the water.
The good transport accessibility of “Dream Island” is provided by the “Technopark” metro station and the “ZIL” transport hub. In addition, a “Dream Island” station of the Biryulyovskaya metro line is currently being built near the amusement park—between Andropov Avenue and the Southern Landscape Park.
