Lanzhou, September 5 /Xinhua/ — Recently, 10 doctors from the Govi-Altai aimag of Mongolia arrived in Gansu Province /Northwest China/ to undergo training in practical methods of traditional Chinese medicine /TCM/ with the aim of strengthening exchange of experience and mutual enrichment in the field of traditional medicine between China and Mongolia.

Most participants in this program are doctors from the Govi-Altai aimag. The courses last 14 days, during which main attention will be given to teaching such traditional Chinese medicine therapy methods as acupuncture, “tuina” massage, and moxibustion. Practical sessions will also be organized for course attendees to immerse themselves and observe the diagnosis and treatment processes using traditional Chinese medicine methods in clinical departments, allowing them to comprehensively and systematically master practical skills and grasp the cultural essence of TCM.

Tsambadorj Khorloo, a participant of the courses, noted that traditional Chinese medicine holds a leading position in the world in the field of traditional healing, has a mature theoretical and practical foundation, is widely used in pediatrics, gynecology, and other areas, and also complements Western medicine well.

She expressed hope that during the trip she would be able to acquire useful knowledge that she could apply in her practical work at home.

Since the establishment of sisterhood relations between China’s Gansu Province and Mongolia’s Govi-Altai Aimag in September 2016, the parties have achieved significant results in cooperation in areas such as humanitarian exchanges, import-export trade, mining industry, and animal husbandry. The current professional training courses serve both as a concrete step to continue the friendly ties between Gansu Province and Govi-Altai Aimag and to deepen practical cooperation, as well as a vivid example of the activation of exchanges and interaction in the field of traditional medicine between China and Mongolia.

“Gansu Province and Mongolia’s Gobi-Altai aimag have close geographical and cultural ties, and their traditions in folk medicine have deep historical roots. We hope that by using technical training as a bridge, we can pass on clinically in-demand methods of traditional Chinese medicine to Mongolian medical workers, promote the mutual development of the traditional medical systems of China and Mongolia, benefit the health of the peoples of both countries, and strengthen the solid foundation of friendly contacts between our regions,” said Wu Bing, Party Committee Secretary of the Hospital at Gansu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. -0-
