Specialists urban infrastructure complex they are conducting current repairs of the “Novovolokolamsky-2” transport tunnel in the northwest of the capital. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing and Communal Services and Improvement Petr Biryukov.
“Special attention is paid to the condition of engineering structures, all facilities undergo regular inspections, and decisions are made to carry out major or current repairs if necessary. Repair work has begun on the ‘Novovolokolamsky-2’ tunnel, which is located on Volokolamskoye Highway and has a single lane for traffic moving from the city center to the region,” noted Petr Biryukov.
Traffic will not be completely stopped during the repair — phased lane closures are planned.
A new “pediment” type wall cladding will be installed in the tunnel: first, a metal frame will be mounted, on which the cladding panels will then be secured. This system improves the aesthetic appearance of the structure, ensures the required moisture resistance, and extends the service life of the constructions. The total work area will be about 5,500 square meters.
Over the past 14 years, every bridge facility in the capital has undergone various types of repairs. This helps extend their service life and create more comfortable conditions for drivers and pedestrians.
