Beijing, April 13 /Xinhua/ — On Sunday, a Chinese-Russian cultural exchange event, the “International Ethnic Festival ‘Golden Path’,” was launched in the city of Zhangjiajie, Hunan Province /Central China/, with more than 300 artists from China, Russia, and the Central Asian region participating. This was reported by the local newspaper “Hunan Daily.”

At the opening ceremony of the 4-day event, held in the landscape zone of Wulinyuan, inscribed on the UNESCO World Natural Heritage list, representatives from China and Russia jointly performed 23 original acts, demonstrating the charm of traditional art forms of the two countries.

In the following days, they will also conduct exchanges in the field of vocal music, visit picturesque landmarks to seek creative inspiration, and participate in a special competition to promote further mutual learning between China and Russia in the field of culture, as well as to facilitate integrated and innovative development of culture and tourism.

The event was jointly organized by the travel agency Zhangjiajie China International Travel Service Co. Ltd and the operator of the Russian international cultural and educational project “Altyn Maidan.” It is aimed at implementing the strategy of the authorities of Hunan Province to create a world-class tourist destination, and also serves as a live practice for transforming Zhangjiajie into a model city in the field of inbound tourism and creating platforms for international cultural exchanges, the newspaper writes.

According to the data cited in the report, since the introduction of the mutual visa-free regime between China and Russia, the number of Russian tourists visiting Zhangjiajie has sharply increased.
