This year, in the Dmitrovsky district, new pedestrian crossings, convenient and safe sidewalks, and additional lanes on the roads will be created as part of the improvement project by the Center for Traffic Management (CTM). At several intersections, the traffic pattern will be changed to make them roundabouts. The work will take place on Sofya Kovalevskaya Street, Lobnenskaya Street, Klyazminskaya Street, Angarskaya Street, as well as on Karelskiy Boulevard and on Projected Passage No. 4599. “Road safety is our priority in accordance with the Transport Development Strategy until 2030, approved by Sergey Sobyanin. This year, in the northern part of the capital, according to the traffic scheme of the Center for Traffic Management (TsODD), we will implement a comprehensive project on several streets of the Dmitrovsky district as part of the improvement efforts. Here, we will equip 35 new pedestrian crossings, renovate sidewalks, add additional traffic lanes, and arrange a roundabout. All these changes will help make the routes of the district’s residents safer and more convenient,” noted Maksim Liksutov.
Thus, seven additional unregulated crossings will appear on Karelsky Boulevard, and on Angarskaya Street—a new crossing near house 61, between the park entrance and the store. Another crossing will be arranged on Lobnenskaya Street next to the V.V. Veresaev City Clinical Hospital and the “Vagonoremont Park” stop.
In addition, to ensure comfortable and safe pedestrian movement, the sidewalks will be renovated. For example, the sidewalk near house 22, building 1 on Sofya Kovalevskaya Street will be widened.

Roundabouts will be introduced at several road sections. The new scheme will take effect, in particular, at the intersection of Project Passage No. 4599 and Sofya Kovalevskaya Street, as well as at the intersection of Dolgoprudnaya Street, Sofya Kovalevskaya Street, and Karelskiy Boulevard, and on Karelskiy Boulevard near house 5.
The roundabout makes the traffic flow through the intersection more understandable. Drivers reduce their speed before the roundabout and then merge into the flow, yielding to those already moving around the circle. This allows crossing the intersection without stopping at traffic lights and is much safer, as it reduces the risk of head-on and side collisions. Furthermore, this scheme improves transport connectivity between different parts of the district: thanks to the roundabout, for example, it is now possible to turn and make U-turns where it was previously prohibited.
In addition, additional lanes will appear on certain sections. For example, at the intersection of Sofya Kovalevskaya and Lobnenskaya streets, lanes will be arranged on all sides of the intersection, and on Klyazminskaya Street — before Angarskaya (when moving from Lobnenskaya Street). This will make it possible to more efficiently distribute traffic flows and increase the throughput capacity of these intersections.
