From September 4 to 6, festive events dedicated to the 879th anniversary of the capital will take place in the “Moscow Model” pavilion. Guests will be able to visit a photo exhibition, an overview tour, a themed quiz, and a lecture on the history of VDNH. This was announced by the Minister of the Moscow Government, head of the city’s Department of Urban Policy. Vladislav Ovchinsky.
“Moscow is becoming more comfortable, modern, and interesting to live in every year, and the changes in the capital can be seen not only on the streets but also on the city model. New buildings, roads, public spaces, and other projects are gradually changing the familiar appearance of districts and shaping the Moscow of the future. At the same time, it is important to remember how the city’s development began and which decisions defined its character today. Therefore, the program for City Day at the ‘Model of Moscow’ will combine an introduction to the capital’s projects and its history and will become a celebration for the whole family,” noted Vladislav Ovchinsky.
Starting September 4, the pavilion will host a photo exhibition dedicated to the winners of the “Best Implemented Project in Construction” contest of 2026. The exhibition will introduce new architectural projects of the capital and show how the city’s appearance is changing.
On September 5 and 6, overview tours will take place on the site. Visitors will be told about the founding of Moscow and the main stages of its history, and will also be shown the main districts and attractions of the city in a single panorama. After the tour, guests will be able to participate in a themed quiz about the capital.
As part of the festive program, on September 5 and 6 at 17:00, there will be a lecture by VDNH staff titled “There is a Corner in the North of Moscow.” Visitors will be told how the idea of the country’s main exhibition came about, how the first pavilions were built, and the opening of VDNH in 1939. A separate part of the lecture will be dedicated to the post-war reconstruction and the opening of the renovated exhibition on August 1, 1954.
The program at the “Moscow Model” pavilion will not only offer an entertaining way to spend City Day but also provide a deeper understanding of the metropolis’s formation history. Visitors will be able to see the modern capital and learn about the events that shaped its appearance and determined the development of public spaces.
