The scientific and technical library of the Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering invites you to an exhibition of new printed arrivals.
The exhibition is opened by art albums Nikolai Markov, a graduate of the architecture faculty of LISI (SPbGASU), who taught for many years at his alma mater in the drawing department. In his work, the artist devoted much attention and love to the ancient monuments of Pskov and the architectural monuments of Petersburg. The artist’s works are the story of the master’s life, reflected in painting and graphics: impressions and mood, memories and reflections.
Of special note is the historical collection “Leningrad Architects – Participants of the Great Patriotic War,” published in 2026, which opens new chapters of the architects’ creative work during difficult times for our country. This memorial book includes biographical sketches and dossiers on more than one hundred architects and students of architectural universities (such as LISI and the Academy of Arts) who went to the front or remained working in besieged Leningrad. The authors did tremendous work, meeting both with the veterans themselves and with the relatives of the heroes who have passed away.
The exhibition also features textbooks, teaching aids, collections of papers, and methodological materials prepared by the faculty of our university as a result of scientific research work.
In the textbook by the professor of the Department of Urban Planning, Doctor of Architecture Sergei Sementsov “Development and design of final qualification works of restoration architects” cover the composition, content, and methods for completing sections of the final qualification work, as well as the volumes of the main sections of graphic and textual work.
In the publication “Architectural Graphics in Course Design” (authors – faculty members of the Department of Architectural Environment Design Maria Granstrem and Alesya Boyko) the main methods and techniques of manual architectural graphics used by students for sketching are revealed, as well as for presentations created in graphic editors, when computer graphics are enriched with manual technique. Practical aspects are considered in detail – from working with lines and fonts to creating ambiance and staffage (these are stylized images of the environment – nature, people, equipment, which help make the drawing more expressive and show the scale).
In the textbook “Construction of shallow foundations from monolithic reinforced concrete” by the lecturers of the Department of Construction Technology Yuri Kazakov and Yuri Tilinin Modern theoretical and practical aspects of constructing shallow foundations from monolithic reinforced concrete are examined in detail, including the methodology for preparing process charts using a course project as an example, calculation of work volumes, and selection of necessary machines and equipment.
In addition, the exhibition offers an opportunity to explore new publications on architecture and socio-architectural studies, construction technology and structural mechanics, modeling and operation of transport and technological machines, as well as art and history.
We invite everyone interested to familiarize themselves in detail with the publications in the reading room of the NTB SPbGASU (room 217). The exhibition will be open until September 30.
