On September 3, Russia observes the Day of Solidarity in the Fight Against Terrorism – a date that reminds us of the value and fragility of human life.
This day is associated with the tragic events that took place at School No. 1 in Beslan from September 1 to 3, 2004. During the ceremonial assembly for Knowledge Day, terrorists took over a thousand people hostage, and as a result of the terrorist attack, 334 people died, 186 of whom were children. This inhumane tragedy once again showed that terror has no nationality, religion, or borders.
But today we remember not only the victims of Beslan. We honor the memory of those who died during the hospital seizure in Budyonnovsk, the audience of the musical “Nord-Ost” at Dubrovka, the residents of the bombed residential buildings in Moscow, Buynaksk, and Volgodonsk, the victims of the recent terrorist attack at the “Crocus City Hall” concert venue, and so on.
The fight against terrorism has long gone beyond purely military operations, with great attention paid to prevention and avoiding such incidents.
Today’s date reminds all of us once again of the importance of protecting ourselves and our loved ones from disinformation, suspicious individuals and groups, and the need to be vigilant, composed, and ready for any emergency situation.
Together we are a strong, invincible, united country, ready to give any enemy a fight and never bow our heads before the enemy.
