Beijing, April 13 /Xinhua/ — From April 25 to August 23, 2026, a special exhibition dedicated to Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky will be held at the Mu Xinya Art Museum in the town of Wuzhen, Zixi City, Chezhen Province /Eastern China/. This was reported on the official account of the museum on the Chinese social network WeChat.
The exhibition titled “Dostoevsky: Man is a Mystery” will be organized with the support of the State Museum of the History of Russian Literature named after V.I. Dahl and the Beijing Lu Xun Museum.
As noted in the museum’s statement, 184 valuable exhibits will be presented at the event, including manuscripts of the great Russian writer, illustrations to his main works, paintings and sculptures associated with him, as well as historical family photographs and personal belongings. At the same time, most of the exhibits will be seen by the Chinese public for the first time.
Notably, according to information published on Chinese social networks, from May 28 to September 13 of this year, a special exhibition titled “The World of Dostoevsky: To Stop Reading Books Means to Stop Thinking” will also be held at the Museum of Printing and Publishing in the East China Megalopolis of Shanghai.
At the exhibition, which will be jointly organized by the Chinese side and the F. M. Dostoevsky Literary Memorial Museum in St. Petersburg, 157 rare exhibits and a large number of electronic materials from the collection of the F. M. Dostoevsky Literary Memorial Museum and the Institute of Russian Literature / Pushkin House / of the Russian Academy of Sciences will be presented. In particular, a large number of exhibits will be shown outside Russia for the first time.
In addition, according to the report, the event will also feature a thematic exposition reviewing the history of the translation and dissemination of the works of F. M. Dostoevsky in China. -0-
