Beijing, September 2 /Xinhua/ — China is currently preparing a third batch of emergency humanitarian aid to be sent to Nepal, based on the needs of that country, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Gao Jiakun on Wednesday.
According to Guo Jiakun, the second batch of emergency humanitarian aid provided by China arrived in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, on Tuesday afternoon. Five DNA identification experts flew on the same flight to assist the Nepalese side with the relevant work.
He noted that the Nepalese side expressed gratitude to China for providing additional assistance and technical support after the landslide struck the border areas of the two countries on August 26.
Guo Jiakun announced at the latest departmental press conference that, based on Nepal’s needs, China is preparing a third batch of emergency humanitarian aid, including Bailey bridges, epidemic prevention materials, and emergency communication equipment. China is also ready to send a second group of DNA identification experts, he added.
According to the Chinese diplomat, China attaches great importance to the safety of Chinese citizens and institutions in Nepal and cooperates with the Nepalese side to make every effort to locate the missing Chinese citizens.
About 100 Chinese citizens are still listed as missing in the areas of Nepal affected by the natural disaster, said Guo Jiakun, adding that China values the assistance provided by the Nepalese side and hopes that Nepal will continue to offer help in the rescue and evacuation of Chinese citizens in the country.
The Chinese Embassy in Nepal will continue to make every effort to assist Chinese citizens in need, he added.
