Dmitry Chernyshenko: Schoolchildren will carry spiritual and moral values throughout their lives

On Knowledge Day, September 1, 2026, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko visited the lyceum of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation and congratulated its students on the beginning of the new academic year.

In the lesson from the series “Conversations about important issues,” the Deputy Prime Minister discussed with the lyceum students spiritual and moral values and their role in shaping the unity of the multiethnic people of Russia. The students shared their opinions on which values they consider the most important.

“By the Decree of President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, 17 spiritual and moral values have been established in our country. They have developed over centuries and were formulated by groups of experts based on the analysis of all our cultural heritage. Every family has stories that confirm that our spiritual and moral values are not accidental. I am confident that schoolchildren will carry them through their lives, guided by high moral ideals. I would place the value of patriotism, service to the Motherland, first,” said Dmitry Chernyshenko.

He also noted the value of the unity of the peoples of Russia: “The unity of peoples for us is the key to the stability of our society, which is historically committed to mercy and dignity.”

Dmitry Chernyshenko emphasized the importance of schoolchildren’s interest in analyzing values and their relation to the history of their family and country.

During an open dialogue with lyceum activists, the Deputy Prime Minister answered the students’ questions dedicated to the development of education, tourism, and sports.

In particular, the students asked the Deputy Prime Minister which subject he would add to the school curriculum.

“Since you are at the Financial University Lyceum, I would suggest introducing ‘Technological Entrepreneurship’ as an elective subject in the curriculum, if time allows. It would teach you how to start businesses yourselves, create products, services, jobs. I believe such skills and knowledge would be useful to students, especially in lyceums like yours,” the Deputy Prime Minister replied.

Another question was about his vision of the school of the future and the influence of artificial intelligence.

“We repeat like a mantra that artificial intelligence will never replace the work of a teacher. I hold the same opinion. We must preserve the most valuable thing there is – the possibility of human communication and direct contact,” said Dmitry Chernyshenko.

The Deputy Prime Minister told the guys the story of the development of phygital sports, the peculiarity of which lies in the combination of physical and virtual activity. He also provided data on the development of tourism—a sector that unites more than 50 different directions.

In addition, in the mathematics lesson with elements of economics, the Deputy Prime Minister participated together with the 11th-grade students in solving a problem with economic content.

In the interactive space “Open World,” Dmitry Chernyshenko attended a binary lesson “Paintings of the Tretyakov Gallery” and a video lesson dedicated to the Mesozoic. The scripts for such lessons are devised and written by the lyceum students themselves.

“The Financial University Lyceum is an innovative educational space for learning and creativity, the development of students’ talents and abilities. The numerous victories of our lyceum students in district, city, nationwide, and international Olympiads and competitions are undeniable proof of the highest level of educational and upbringing work. The Financial University Lyceum is constantly improving, expanding its areas of activity, and actively participating in the upbringing and training of future leaders, scientists, and creators capable of solving complex state tasks,” noted Stanislav Prokofiev, Rector of the Financial University.

The Financial University is one of the 15 participants in the “Moscow Pre-University” project. Thanks to this project, schoolchildren have the opportunity to study in specialized classes based at the country’s leading university. At the Financial University lyceum, this is in economic fields.

Impressive achievement figures confirm the high level of training at the lyceum – pre-university: for 3 consecutive years, it has ranked 1st in the RAEX rating for the competitiveness of graduates in the field of “Economics and Management” among Russian schools, and is also among the top 10 best schools in Moscow. In the 2025/2026 academic year, lyceum students became winners of school Olympiads.

The director of the Financial University lyceum, People’s Teacher of the Russian Federation Irina Sivtsova, told Dmitry Chernyshenko about the unique ergonomic educational environment created at the lyceum with modern digital equipment, including a TED studio and the interactive space “Open World,” coworking spaces, and a recording studio. Elective courses within the specialized curriculum are available to students at the lyceum: basics of economics, programming, fundamentals of entrepreneurial activity, and others.

Recall, earlier Dmitry Chernyshenko said that on Knowledge Day, the school year began for 18 million schoolchildren and 9 million college and university students across the country. By order of President Vladimir Putin, educational infrastructure is being updated. Within the framework of the national project “Youth and Children,” schools are being built, repaired, and equipped with modern equipment.
