Beijing, September 1 /Xinhua/ — Passenger traffic on China’s railway transport during the 62-day summer tourist season reached 954 million person-trips, according to data released on Tuesday by the state corporation “China Railway” /CR/.
The data also showed that during the period from July 1 to August 31 of this year, 680 million tons of cargo were transported on the country’s railways.
A representative of the state corporation noted that KZD increased its throughput capacity by implementing a summer train schedule alongside the third quarter timetable, as well as through the full utilization of newly commissioned railway lines.
According to the data, during the reporting period, an average of 11,623 passenger trains operated daily on China’s railway network.
To meet the demand for family trips, introductory tours, “red tourism,” and wellness tourism during the summer, the Chinese Railway Corporation launched 699 tourist trains, including 415 specialized excursion trains.
The state corporation also put into operation 351 specialized trains to serve various events, exhibitions, and performances, including those designed for music lovers and sports fans, which contributed to the growth of cultural and tourist consumption in locations along these routes. -0-
