Almost 250 thousand Muscovites visited the open days in the renovated buildings reconstructed under the “My School” program. Guests explored the updated educational spaces and also participated in workshops, lectures, training sessions, and intellectual games. “In the new school year, already 100 schools renovated under the ‘My School’ program are welcoming their students. We have completely transformed the educational spaces of buildings constructed several decades ago, taking into account the needs of modern pupils and new learning formats. And just a few days ago, anyone interested could see the result of this work: from August 24 to 29, we held open house days in the renovated schools, which were visited by almost 250,000 Muscovites. This format allowed guests not only to tour the updated spaces but also to get acquainted with new opportunities for study, sports, creativity, and research. They appreciated the specialized classrooms and laboratory-research complexes with modern equipment, media libraries with spaces for group and individual work, new dining halls, and relaxation zones. Furthermore, families spent their time productively at master classes, lectures, sports training, and intellectual games,” Anastasia Rakova said.
The sports segment included a master class by coaches from the Moscow football club “Spartak.” Schoolchildren participated in warm-up exercises and a game, then tested their knowledge of the club’s history in themed quizzes. The Russian Olympic Committee held “Olympic Lessons,” where the kids interacted with Olympic champions Alexander Dyachenko (canoe sprint) and Sergey Fedorovtsev (rowing), played the “Olympic Alphabet,” and completed a sports mini-dictation about the Olympic movement and healthy lifestyle.
A large part of the program was dedicated to science and the surrounding world. Alexander Molostvov, an astronomer and lecturer at the Moscow Planetarium, which is subordinate to the city’s Department of Culture, spoke about the astronomical phenomena of August — lunar and solar eclipses, as well as the Perseid meteor shower.
Experts of the capital Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection conducted lessons about the flora, fauna, and ecology of Moscow. Employees of the Victory Museum prepared historical quizzes dedicated to the Great Patriotic War, including the Battle of Moscow, the great marshals, and life in the capital during the war years.
Specialists urban infrastructure complex explained how modern engineering solutions help achieve energy efficiency and a comfortable microclimate in schools. Guests learned about the design of ventilation, lighting, acoustics, as well as a unified digital safety and engineering systems management system. Practical sessions were held in some schools. During these, participants sorted waste, assembled models of heat pipes, gas pipelines, and stormwater drainage.
For children, classes on robotics and electronics were also organized. Participants assembled functioning electrical circuits, studied their operating principles, and interacted with a humanoid robot and a robot dog.
The creative block consisted of master classes on drawing, origami, and creating a model of the dream district. All guests received souvenirs featuring the symbols of Moscow education.
The “My School” program has been in effect since 2024. This is the largest project in Moscow’s history for renovating school buildings. In the years 2024–2025, 55 facilities were opened after reconstruction, and this year work was completed in another 100 schools.
