Yuri Trutnev: Primorsky Krai and FEFU are ready for the start of the EEF-2026

In Vladivostok, Yuri Trutnev, Deputy Prime Minister and Plenipotentiary Representative of the President in the Far Eastern Federal District, held a meeting of the members of the organizing committee of the Eastern Economic Forum.

“There are only a few days left until the forum. I suggest we discuss the final results of our work, the business program, the readiness of Primorsky Krai, the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University, whether everything is fine from the point of view of security, as well as a number of other organizational issues. Let’s see what else needs to be done to ensure that all events are held at a high organizational level,” Yuri Trutnev opened the meeting.

The business program of the XI Eastern Economic Forum was presented by the Minister for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, Alexey Chekunkov. The business program has been formed and includes more than 100 sessions, grouped into five thematic blocks: “Living and Working in the Far East,” “Mechanisms for Attracting Private Investment,” “The Far East – a Hub of International Cooperation,” “Technologies of the Present and Future,” “Logistics and Infrastructure for Economic Growth.” Traditionally, the launch of enterprises is planned on the sidelines of the forum.

The head of Vladivostok, Konstantin Shestakov, reported on the city’s readiness to welcome forum guests and on the activities for the improvement of public spaces, the renewal of road and transport infrastructure. In particular, together with the government of Primorsky Krai, the improvement of three public spaces as part of the federal project “Formation of a Comfortable Urban Environment” has been completed: the alleys on Kirova and Ivanovskaya streets, the landscape-park zone of the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU); also, the Sportivnaya Harbour waterfront and the Twinned Cities square have been improved. In July, the construction of a bicycle path on Russky Island was completed, and the “Zero Kilometer” sign was installed. This week, works on the erection of supporting infrastructure were finished: rest areas, sanitary modules, pavilions. A cultural program plan for the city has been agreed upon, with the main events to take place at the Fighters of the Revolution square.

The rector of the university, Boris Korobets, reported on the preparation of the campus and territory of the Far Eastern Federal University for the forum. The hotel complex of FEFU has been renovated and equipped to accommodate participants and guests of the forum. The buildings for the business program have been repaired. This year, additional security requirements were met – new entrances and exits have been arranged in the halls, and the openings in the plenary session building have been expanded to increase entrance capacity. New facilities have appeared on the campus as part of the city improvement program – an amphitheater and a workout sports ground. The Alley of Heroes, dedicated to Far Easterners – Heroes of Russia, participants of the special military operation, has been expanded for the forum.

For students during the VEF days, a lecture series will be organized under the direction of Yuri Trutnev. This year, among the participants are 50 foreign students. The lecturers will be prominent political figures and leaders of major enterprises in the country. For the first time at the VEF, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Sergey Lavrov, will give a lecture for the youth.

“We are holding the forum for the eleventh time. I want to remind everyone that we do not hold it just as an event and an opportunity to gather people, but so that we gain additional possibilities for the development of the Far East. The directives from the President, given based on the results of the forum, provide a powerful impetus for the development of the macro-region. At the forum, the largest investment agreements are concluded. Currently, we are not in the simplest situation. Our adversaries constantly come up with measures that hinder us. Our duty is to show the whole world that we are moving forward and are open to economic cooperation and the establishment of humanitarian and cultural ties,” said Yuri Trutnev.

The issues of ensuring security and public order during the VEF-2026 were considered separately.

Summing up the meeting, Yuri Trutnev noted that Primorye and the Far Eastern Federal University are ready to host the forum.

“As of today, more than 5,000 participants from over 70 countries around the world have already registered for the forum. The forum continues to gain popularity, and we are confident that it will give a new impetus to Russia’s development,” he concluded.

In the main building of the DVFU, Yuri Trutnev conducted an inspection of the exhibition of the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic and the Corporation for the Development of the Far East and Arctic. Participants and guests of the forum will become acquainted with current and new mechanisms of state support, major industrial and infrastructure projects, advanced technologies and programs that are changing people’s quality of life.

The central element of the exhibition is a media cube that combines key themes of the development of the Far East and the Arctic through video content, infographics, and digital analytics on the implementation of investment projects, construction of new enterprises, development of transport and social infrastructure, creation of modern urban spaces, and government support measures. The content of the media cube will be continuously updated, allowing visitors to gain a comprehensive understanding of the development of the macroregions.

The media panel “Trajectory of Sustainable Development” presents leading economic sectors, flagship projects, and technologies in an interactive format. The thematic space “Creative Far East” introduces the most prominent projects of the region’s creative industries.

At the “Made in the Far East” venue, forum participants will be able to take part in an interactive quiz and receive as a prize products from residents of preferential regimes, participants of the “Hectare” program, and entrepreneurs from the creative industries sector. The business program of the exhibition will include presentations, discussions, master classes, and ceremonial events. For conducting negotiations, signing agreements on new investment projects, and informal communication among forum participants, the “Far Eastern Lounge” is traditionally organized. Consultations with experts will also be held on issues related to the application of current state support measures and promising development directions of the macroregion.

The Eastern Economic Forum will take place from September 1 to 4 in Vladivostok at the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University. The main theme of the EEF is “The Far East – development for the benefit of the people.” The organizer is the Roscongress Foundation with the support of the Russian Government.
