Islamabad, April 11 /Xinhua/ — An Iranian delegation, which arrived to participate in talks with the United States, held a meeting on Saturday with Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif before the start of meetings with the American side. This was reported by the media.

During a 40-minute meeting, the parties discussed the preliminary conditions of the negotiations, Pakistani sources reported.

According to other Pakistani sources, the negotiation process is proceeding more slowly than expected and may take more time.

Earlier, a high-level Iranian delegation headed by the Speaker of the Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, arrived in Islamabad to participate in negotiations with the USA.

After arrival, the Iranian delegation met with the Commander-in-Chief of the Pakistan Armed Forces, Field Marshal Asim Munir, on the eve of planned peace negotiations, the Iranian agency Mehr reported.

The US delegation headed by Vice President Jay D. Vance arrived in Pakistan at noon on Saturday.
