The opening ceremony of the Football Development Center in Kazan was attended by Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Chernyshenko, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, and the Chairman of the Board of FC Rubin Marat Safiullin.
Dmitry Chernyshenko thanked the builders and the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, who implemented this project. The Football Development Center was built ahead of schedule and became a vivid example of partnership between the federal center and the Republic.
“The opening of the Football Development Center in Kazan is a wonderful gift for Republic Day and City Day. Kazan is the sports capital of our country. It has repeatedly confirmed this status by hosting sports events of the highest level, and now it has received a new venue where our talents will be forged. But most importantly, you are making a huge contribution to achieving the goal set by President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin—the number of people engaged in sports should reach 70% by 2030. Thanks to such projects, Tatarstan already shows a level of 67%. Huge thanks to those who are engaged in building infrastructure, organizing sports events, and involving young people in sports. Keep going, dare, win, so that the words “Rubin” – champion! are often heard here,” said Dmitry Chernyshenko.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the center will work for decades to ensure that sports stars and heroes, whom young people will look up to, are born here.
“Thanks to a thorough understanding and federal support, the largest project was realized. We never even dreamed of such a result! I wish all the club teams to be in one environment so that the younger ones can always learn from the older ones. Kazan, in addition to being a sports capital, should also become a football capital!” – noted Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov.
Young pupils of the Rubin football club handed the guests a ball for signing. After that, Dmitry Chernyshenko, Rustam Minnikhanov, and the mayor of Kazan, Ilsur Metshin, evaluated the infrastructure of the “Football Development Center,” including the medical center, locker rooms, living quarters, and leisure areas. Detailed information was presented to them by Marat Safiullin and the head coach of FC Rubin, Franck Artiaga.
The total area of the universal sports complex is more than 10,000 sq. m. The center includes an indoor football arena, 2 outdoor training football fields with artificial turf, a dormitory for athletes, and a universal sports complex. Inside it are a 20×20 m training field, a swimming pool, a conference hall with 90 seats, a media center, coaches’ and doctors’ offices, an analytics department, a gymnastics hall, and rooms for athlete accommodation.
Construction was carried out in stages. The first stage – an indoor football arena – was commissioned in June 2025. The second stage, including a dormitory with 76 places and 2 football fields, was opened in October 2025. The final, third stage – a multipurpose sports complex – was completed in August 2026.
The center was built with funds from the state program “Development of Physical Culture and Sports” and the budget of the Republic of Tatarstan.
