In the palace-theater of the Ostankino estate, in the interiors of the picture gallery, valuable handwritten documents dated 1793–1798 were found. They relate to the first stage of construction of this unique building. Sergey Sobyanin reported this on his channel in the messenger “Max”.
“At that time, all the work was led by the chief architect — the serf Pavel Argunov. Working with him were his father — the artist Ivan Argunov, serf architects Aleksey Mironov and Grigoriy Dikushin. Among the discovered papers are business correspondence, orders, and an authentic payroll. It mentions many creators of one of Moscow’s most beautiful palaces: masons, plasterers, carpenters, and window makers,” wrote the Mayor of Moscow.

The finds have been handed over to a graphics restoration specialist. He will carefully restore them and prepare them for exhibition.
This is not the only surprise that the Ostankino estate presented to the restorers. Earlier in In the Egyptian pavilion a theatrical helmet from the late 18th century was discovered.
The restoration of the Ostankino estate — a jewel of 18th-century Russian architecture — is one of the capital’s most extensive projects. The restoration of the eastern part of the palace — the Egyptian Pavilion — has already been completed. The restoration of the Italian Pavilion in the western part of the building is expected to be finished soon.
After the completion of the work, the palace-theater will reopen for visits.
