In the Mnevniki floodplain, the construction of a pedestrian and bicycle bridge across the Moscow River at Ostrovnaya Street is ongoing. The structure will connect the Western and Northwestern administrative districts of the capital. At the moment, specialists have completed the launching of the span structure and continue to install the arches. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Policy and Construction. Vladimir Efimov.
“Mnevniki Floodplain is an actively developing area in the northwest of Moscow. To provide the emerging residential and social development with modern transport infrastructure, we are carrying out large-scale work on the construction of road facilities in this area. Thus, in the western part of the floodplain, the construction of a bicycle and pedestrian bridge, which will connect it with Ostrovnaya Street in Krylatskoye, is ongoing. At present, builders have completed the launching of the span structure over the river channel, with more than 30 meters passed during the final stage. About 80 meters were previously passed. The shore segments of the structure will be set in the design position using cranes. Simultaneously, work on installing the bridge arches continues; they are more than 70 percent complete,” noted Vladimir Efimov.
The bridge structure will be combined: two “collapsible” arches will connect to the span structure with suspender cables. The cables will be arranged parallel to the stiffening girder in a “harp” geometric pattern.
“On the right bank, work on the installation of supports and the retaining wall has been completed. After the installation of the span structure, we plan to begin arranging the premises for the operating organization. On the left bank, work has been carried out to create the piled foundation for two supports,” added the head of the Department of Construction of Transport and Engineering Infrastructure of the city of Moscow.
The capital’s construction quality standard is ensured by the systematic work of the specialists at “Control of Moscow.” According to the chairman of the Mosgosstroynadzor Anton Slobodchikov, the construction of the road facility has been monitored at every stage since August 2025. Inspectors have already conducted three field inspections, during which they assessed the compliance of the completed work with the approved project.
