In September, an updated program will start operating in the capital “Watch movies with ‘Moscow Longevity'”. It will unite the existing areas of the project dedicated to cinematography. This was reported by the deputy head of the city’s Department of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Vladimir Filippov.
“Today, project participants find it no longer enough just to watch a good film. It is important for them to understand the language of cinema, learn about the history of the creation of films, and discuss what they have seen with professionals. A telling example is the more than 100 film clubs that older Muscovites have organized on their own. We see this desire and are making development opportunities even more accessible. The new program unites different formats into a single system. Now everyone can choose a convenient option: go to a cinema for a lecture and watch a film on the big screen, meet with industry representatives, or gather with like-minded people near their home. Thus, cinema becomes not just a hobby, but a reason for new knowledge, lively communication, and intellectual activity,” said Vladimir Filippov.
Lecture hall, club, and informal meetings
The first format of the updated program is a film lecture series. Older Muscovites will be able to watch domestic and foreign classics, as well as new cinema releases on a big screen. Before each screening, an expert will introduce viewers to the context of the film, talk about its creation, and draw attention to important artistic details. After the showing, there will be an opportunity to discuss what was seen. The film lecture series will be organized in Moscow cinemas, including venues from the “Moskino,” “Karo,” “Cinema Star,” and other networks.
The second format is a film club, which is already working in partnership with the online cinema “Okko.” Every Wednesday in all Moscow longevity centers They watch contemporary Russian cinema and discuss it with industry representatives. The main venue for meetings now is the Moscow Longevity Center “Presnensky.” Here, directors, actors, screenwriters, producers, film critics, and film scholars interact with the audience in person. In other centers, you can watch the film, join the speaker’s online broadcast, and ask questions remotely.
For example, as part of the film club, there was a preview screening of the series “Mammoths,” in which the main character, played by Yury Stoyanov, fights against phone scammers and tries to regain the attention of his daughter and granddaughter. Additionally, viewers were recently presented with the film “Yura Was Here,” which won the Grand Prix at the “Mayak” festival. One of the roles in the movie was played by Konstantin Khabensky. After the screening, the general producer Ivan Yakovenko, director Sergey Malkin, and one of the lead actors, Kuzma Kotrelev, answered questions from the audience.
The third format of the updated program consists of open meetings at the Moscow Longevity centers. City residents can join an existing film community or create their own in the nearest center. Its leader, together with like-minded people, chooses films and discussion topics, as well as determines a convenient meeting time. For example, the club can be dedicated to the work of a favorite director, a specific era, classic or contemporary cinema. The repertoire is formed by the participants themselves based on their interests.
