At the flagship university special economic zone The (SEZ) “Technopolis Moscow” — National Research University “MIET” (NRU MIET) — has completed the admission campaign for budget-funded places. The number of applications submitted exceeded last year’s figures by almost 1.5 times and amounted to more than 35 thousand. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry. Maxim Liksutov.
“NIU MIET is a partner university of the special economic zone ‘Technopolis Moscow.’ Its students form the human resource potential of the radio-electronic industry and actively replenish the staff of young employees in SEZ companies. This year, more than 35 thousand applications were submitted for bachelor’s and specialist programs, which is almost 1.5 times higher than the figures for 2025. Thanks to the city’s systematic policy aimed at popularizing engineering professions, applicants applying for budget places mainly submitted applications in five technical fields,” explained Maksim Liksutov.
This year, the leading technical university in the country has allocated 966 state-funded places for 19 bachelor’s degree programs, as well as 434 places for master’s degree applicants. Priority is given to technical specialties. Over the past four years, the number of state-funded places in these areas has increased by 20 percent.
Applications for admission to NIU MIET were submitted by 6,300 applicants. This is 500 more candidates than last year. The competition for full-time study was 6.5 people per place. Almost 95 percent of the applications are for technical specialties. The highest competition was in the fields of “Design and Technology of Electronic Devices,” “Innovation,” “Materials Science and Technology of Materials,” “Applied Informatics,” and “Software Engineering.”
Applicants have submitted over 4.3 thousand applications for the budget places of the master’s program in various fields of study. This is twice the number compared to last year.
At the College of Electronics and Computer Science of MIET National Research University, the number of budget places for applicants based on the ninth grade has increased to 40. In addition, several new specialties have been opened. For the programs of secondary vocational education, 1132 applications have been submitted for budget places and 1050 for commercial places.
The special economic zone “Technopolis Moscow” will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2026. Over two decades, the project has transformed from a launch pad for innovative projects into a key hub of domestic industry and an attraction center for companies that define Russia’s technological sovereignty. Today, across 10 sites of the Technopolis Moscow SEZ, covering a total area of 430 hectares, production is localized for more than 240 high-tech enterprises representing strategic sectors such as microelectronics, instrument engineering, biomedicine, IT, and robotics.
