At the Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, the modernization of civil defense infrastructure has been completed. The natural result of three years of systematic work was Polytech’s victory in the Kalininsky District review-competition for the best civil defense protective structure (CDPS).
Located in the second professor building at: 29 Polytechnicheskaya St., lit. D, the ZS GO took first place in the group of facilities with a capacity of up to 150 people.
Ensuring the safety of students and staff is the top priority for the university management. During 2024–2026, the Civil Protection Department of the St. Petersburg Polytechnic University Civil Security Office carried out significant work on restoring the civil defense shelter, bringing it to proper technical condition, and equipping it with the necessary assets.
The main focus was on modernizing the facilities in accordance with current regulations. Employees of the maintenance and engineering structural units updated the engineering networks, restored the building structures, and the airtightness of the civil defense protection structures.
After the completion of engineering and technical works, the Civil Protection Department organized training and tactical exercises for students and staff with visits to shelters. During the drills, they practiced the procedures for responding to a civil defense signal, a drone attack, and taking cover in a protective structure.
