The official website has published the business program of the II Russian-Chinese Forum, which will take place on September 4–6 in Khabarovsk under the slogan “Greater Ussuriysk: cooperation in the joint development of the island.” It will include more than 30 thematic sessions. “The Russian-Chinese forum, which will be held in Khabarovsk, is aimed at strengthening bilateral ties between the countries. It is planned to discuss the implementation of joint projects there, including the development of Bolshoy Ussuriysky Island, which should demonstrate the friendship of our states. The event is intended to expand economic, technological, and humanitarian cooperation between Russia and the PRC,” said Deputy Prime Minister – Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev.
The forum is expected to gather more than 3,000 representatives of business, government bodies, and experts from Russia and the PRC. Among them are the Governor of Khabarovsk Krai Dmitry Demeshin, State Secretary – Deputy Minister of Transport of Russia Dmitry Zverev, Deputy Minister of Transport of the People’s Republic of China Li Yang, Special Representative of the President of Russia for Relations with International Organizations to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals Boris Titov, General Director of JSC “Russian Export Center” Veronika Nikishina, President of “Opora Russia” Alexander Kalinin, Senior Vice President, Head of the Small Business Division of PJSC “Bank PSB” Irina Zhimerina, Chairman of the Union of Chinese Entrepreneurs in Russia Zhou Lixun, member of the CPC Committee of Heilongjiang Province Liu Zhenguo, Head of the Department of Commerce of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Hu Infeng, Chairman of the Working Committee “One Belt, One Road” of the China Association of Small and Medium Enterprises Shang Shiwei, Chief Researcher of the Institute of Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Gao Jixiang.
“China is one of our key economic partners. We work together in trade, logistics, tourism, and the humanitarian sphere. Now, as the Russian economy is increasingly oriented towards the Asia-Pacific markets, these ties become even more significant. This direction is set by the head of our state, Vladimir Putin, and we are successfully implementing it. The main thing is that the forum should provide concrete results. We plan to consolidate the agreements reached, launch new projects, and help our entrepreneurs find reliable partners in China,” noted the governor of Khabarovsk Krai, Dmitry Demeshin.
The central event will be the plenary session “Russian-Chinese Cooperation: Together Towards Sustainable Development and Prosperity.” Participants will talk about Bolshoy Ussuriysky Island as a symbol of friendship and peace, discuss the interaction of sister regions, the role of small businesses in developing cooperation, new transport corridors between the two countries, and prospects for Russian-Chinese tourism.
A separate block of the program will be dedicated to the joint development of the island. The forum will present investment projects from Russia and China, joint territorial development projects, and the concept of the Amur as an international transport corridor.
As part of the forum, the anniversary 30th meeting of the subcommission on cooperation in the field of transport of the Russian-Chinese Intergovernmental Commission will take place. A separate inter-district meeting will be dedicated to the implementation of the national project “International Cooperation and Export” in the regions of the Far Eastern and Siberian Federal Districts.
Among the key topics of the business program are investment infrastructure, industrial and technological cooperation, agricultural exports, international settlements, digital currencies, development of transport corridors, artificial intelligence, and space technologies. Special attention will be given to the cross-year of Russian-Chinese cooperation in the field of education. During the specialized discussions, the development of vocational education, student and teacher exchange programs, joint development of educational standards, and the holding of professional skills competitions will be discussed.
There are also sessions on renewable energy, women’s entrepreneurship development, creative industries, medical technologies, tourism, and cross-border environmental cooperation.
The practical part of the business program will consist of B2B negotiations between Russian and Chinese entrepreneurs. Representatives from seven subjects of the Russian Federation and ten provinces of the PRC will participate. The negotiations will cover 15 industries, including the food industry, fisheries complex, agriculture, forest industry complex, mechanical engineering, construction, light industry, fuel and energy complex, metallurgy, tourism, IT and telecommunications, creative industries, logistics, chemical industry, and the financial sector.
The organizer of the Russia-China Forum is the government of the Khabarovsk Krai with the support of the office of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of Russia in the Far Eastern Federal District, the Ministry of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation, and the Russian Export Center.
