Beijing, August 25 /Xinhua/ — The 3rd China-U.S. dialogue at the “one-and-a-half track” level was held on Tuesday in the Chinese capital. The parties had frank, in-depth, and constructive exchanges and stressed that China-U.S. relations are extremely important and currently at a pivotal stage.
The parties stated the need to jointly implement the important agreements reached by the heads of the two states, to rely on the new positioning of bilateral relations as “China-U.S. relations of constructive strategic stability,” to strengthen communication and dialogue, and to enhance political mutual trust.
Representatives of both sides also called for promoting exchanges and cooperation in areas such as economy and trade, cultural and humanitarian and interregional exchanges, healthcare, artificial intelligence, and food security, appropriately resolving disagreements, and jointly addressing global challenges.
The dialogue was organized by the International Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee and the Asia Society. Liu Haisu, Head of the International Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee, participated in the event and gave a keynote speech.
About 40 representatives from China and the United States participated in the dialogue, including staff from Chinese relevant departments, local government authorities, think tanks, and universities, as well as representatives from the strategic and business circles of the United States, including John Lawson Thornton, co-chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Asia Society.
