At the Moscow Zoo, which is subordinate to the city Department of Culture, registration opens for free children’s clubs. Among them are classes for children with disabilities, a research club, and pony riding lessons.
Moscow Zoo Pony Club (registration opens on August 25) — one of the oldest pony clubs in the city. Today, it houses 25 ponies of various breeds. The club’s activities aim to cultivate children’s careful attitude toward animals and communication skills with them, as well as to develop an interest in biology. In the classes, children learn about the specifics of horse care, their diet and behavior, learn to understand their signals, and acquire amateur horseback riding skills on ponies. Training is held twice a week for children aged seven and older. The pony club’s athletes at the zoo constantly win prizes in competitions of various levels, participate in exhibitions, reviews, festivals, and other events.
KYUBZ (registration opens on September 2) — a scientific research club for young biologists at the Moscow Zoo, established in 1924 to train young zoologists. Over the past decades, a close-knit team has formed within its framework, loyal to traditions and shared interests. Its main goal is to inspire interest and develop skills in scientific work in the field of biology. Throughout the years of the club’s operation, almost two thousand people have enrolled, many of whom have become academicians, professors, and doctors of science. Today, children aged 11 to 17 study here.
Inclusive pet studio (Registration opens on August 25) — a club for families raising children with developmental disorders, as well as their brothers and sisters without serious health limitations. The children are engaged using methods that take into account the needs and abilities of each child. They meet specially trained animals here and participate in creative activities and workshops. During the warm season, excursions around the zoo are held, along with various programs and events. Recommended age of children is from seven to 10 years old, meetings are held twice a week.

At the beginning of 2025, the Moscow Zoo set a world record for the number of animal species represented: it housed 1,253 species. By 2026, their number had approached 1,280.
