The results were summed up in the “Active Citizen” project voting for the autumn ambassador of the service “Mospitomec” on the mos.ru portal. City shelters presented 13 candidates, from which the residents of the capital chose a favorite. More than 139 thousand people shared their opinions.
The winner was a clever and friendly dog Timofey from the shelter for homeless animals of the South-Western Administrative District, receiving 13.2 percent of the votes. The eight-year-old dog loves to interact with people, and during walks he meets and plays with other dogs. Sometimes he is shy, but this very trait allows him to get along well with other animals, so Timofey can become the second dog in the house. Shelter specialists note that with daily training, the dog will easily learn any commands.
Winning the vote will allow Timofey to become the autumn symbol of the “Mospitomets” service on the mos.ru portal. His profile will be featured in the section “Waiting for a meeting”, and the dog’s personal card will be highlighted with bright stickers. This will help attract even more attention to the animal and increase its chances of finding an owner.
The second place in the voting was taken by a dog named Futures — a ward of the shelter for homeless animals “Dubovaya Roshcha” of the North-Eastern Administrative District. He fell just slightly behind the leader, gaining 13.05 percent of the votes. Futures is two years old and can become the perfect companion for fans of an active lifestyle and long walks. The dog enjoys running, playing, and exploring everything around, but at the same time he is affectionate and good-natured, and also learns well.
The cat rounds out the top three Bun, who lives in the shelter for stray animals “Nekrasovka” of the South-Eastern Administrative District. Her candidacy was supported by 10.12 percent of “active citizens.” The seven-year-old cat loves spending time near people and gladly offers her head and back to be petted. She is very affectionate, friendly, and dreams of a home where she can purr for no reason.
Earlier, Muscovites had already chosen spring and year-old ambassadors of the service “Mospitomets”. They became a playful dog Associate Professor from the “Bolshoy” shelter in the Northern Administrative District and a gentle cat Andromeda from the shelter “Zoorassvet” of the State Budgetary Institution “Dorinvest.” By the end of the year, participants of the “Active Citizen” project will also have to choose the ambassador of the winter season.
The voting was prepared by the project “Active Citizen” together with the municipal services complex of Moscow and metropolitan Department of Information Technology. By participating in the ambassador selection, city residents increase the chances of shelter animals finding their homes.
Project “Active Citizen” has been operating since 2014. During this time, more than seven million people have joined it, and over 7,800 votes have taken place. Every month, 30 to 40 decisions are implemented in the city.
