In the renovated schools of the capital, reconstructed under the city program “My School,” have started open days. They will take place until August 29 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on weekdays and from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. This was reported by the press service Department of Education and Science of Moscow.
“The ‘My School’ program is the largest project for renovating school buildings in the history of Moscow. In 2024 and 2025, 55 facilities will be opened after reconstruction. This year, another 100 schools will open. The project allows for the transformation of buildings with history, making them modern, comfortable, and technological, fully comparable to new constructions. During the open house days, everyone will have the opportunity to see how the learning areas have changed,” noted the agency’s press service.

What school buildings look like after renovation
Modern educational classrooms and laboratory-research complexes for practical lessons have appeared in schools. Innovative equipment has been installed in specialized rooms: digital microscopes, 3D printers, laser cutting and engraving machines.
Instead of traditional libraries, media libraries were created where interactive lessons can be organized, books can be read, and homework done. Traditional assembly halls have become multifunctional spaces for holding events of various formats: lectures, master classes, rehearsals, and concerts. Empty school corridors have been replaced by comfortable recreation areas with soft sofas, window sills with cushions to sit on, drinking fountains, and locker cabinets for personal belongings.
Educational, cultural and sports program
As part of the open house days, an educational, cultural, and sports program has also been prepared for guests. The Moscow Planetarium will hold a lecture on the astronomical events of August. Astronomer Alexander Molostvov will talk about lunar and solar eclipses and the Perseid meteor shower. Guests can also participate in a quiz: those who answer correctly will receive prizes with space-themed symbols. The events will take place on August 25 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at school No. 1531 named after S.K. Godovikov, on August 26 at the same hours at school No. 444, and on August 29 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at school No. 1530 “Lomonosov School.”
City employees will conduct a lecture and quiz about urban biodiversity for visitors Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection. The most active participants will receive field guides with photos and descriptions of animals, plants, and fungi found in Moscow parks. Classes will be held on all days of the open house events at the ‘Yuzhnoye Izmaylovo’ school, as well as at schools No. 14, 183, 609, 1375, and other educational institutions.
The Victory Museum organizes lectures and quizzes dedicated to the Great Patriotic War in renovated schools. Thus, on August 24, at school No. 1400, guests will learn about the unrealized German plan “Typhoon” and the heroic defense of Moscow in 1941–1942, followed by participation in a quiz. On August 25, at school No. 1593, there will be a session introducing the biography of the commander Georgy Zhukov. On August 26, at school No. 806, visitors will be told about the realities of life in the capital in 1941–1942 — from blackout rules and the use of the subway as a bomb shelter to the evacuation of industrial enterprises. All events will take place from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
Capital urban infrastructure complex prepared practical classes, workshops, and lectures. They will take place on August 29 at schools No. 851, 1400, 2127, 1207, 1363, 1212, 183, and school No. 2129 named after Hero of the Soviet Union P.I. Romanov. From 11:00 to 14:00, guests will assemble visual models of heat pipelines, gas pipelines, and stormwater drainage from construction sets, play board games where they will act as complex specialists and create a comfortable city for living, and also attend a waste sorting session. From 14:00 to 16:00, there will be lectures about modern engineering solutions used in school reconstruction.
In addition, everyone interested will be able to get acquainted with humanoid robots and robot dogs. In the workshops, participants will learn the basics of electronics and circuit design, as well as assemble an electrical circuit. The events will take place on August 24 from 18:00 to 20:00 at school No. 218, on August 28 from 15:00 to 17:00 at school No. 236 named after Hero of the Soviet Union G.I. Shchedrin, and on August 29 from 10:00 to 12:00 at school No. 656 named after A.S. Makarenko.
At the V.F. Orlov ‘Maryina Roshcha’ school on August 24 at 14:00, coaches from the Moscow club ‘Spartak’ will hold a football master class with a warm-up and a match between students. In addition, the club has prepared quizzes about the history of the legendary team with merchandise giveaways — the games will take place on August 25 at schools No. 1576 (at 14:00) and 218 (at 16:00).
The program of the Russian Olympic Committee includes a meeting and conversation with Olympic champions: Alexander Dyachenko in kayaking and Sergey Fedorovtsev in rowing. In addition, there will be a game in which participants will have to guess sports, as well as a planned sports quiz about the Olympic movement and a healthy lifestyle. The events will take place on August 27 at school No. 1574.
