The capital has completed the application process for the Moscow Mayor’s grants for higher education in the field of culture and art. The program aims to identify and support promising specialists, as well as to form a personnel reserve. You can view the list at website.
“This year, more than 120 applications were submitted — 1.5 times more than in 2025. Fifty candidates were admitted for further consideration,” said the Minister of the Moscow Government, head of the city’s Department of Culture
The greatest interest among students was in the music direction. It received 38 applications. 33 applicants chose architecture, 24 — film, 15 — painting, and 12 — choreography. Moscow residents who successfully graduated from the capital’s art colleges could apply for grants. The competitive selection and ranking of recipients will continue until August 31, and the list of grant holders will be published on website. The grant transfer will take place by October 1.
This year, 30 grants are provided in the fields of music (including sound engineering), architecture (including graphics and design), as well as painting, sculpture, choreography, and cinema. Support can be obtained for studies at more than 30 leading universities in Russia, including the P.I. Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory, the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts — GITIS, the Boris Shchukin Theatre Institute, the Moscow Architectural Institute, the Moscow State Academy of Choreography, the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music, and other higher education institutions.
From 2026, restoration has been added to the list of specialties and fields of study, and the list of higher education institutions participating in the project has been expanded. The program has been joined by the A.N. Kosygin Russian State University, the A.L. Stieglitz Saint Petersburg State Academy of Art and Industry, and the Saint Petersburg State Institute of Film and Television.
The size of the grant depends on the specific field. Within the music field, five grants are provided, each not exceeding 700 thousand rubles per year, including the sound engineering field — no more than 600 thousand rubles per year. The architectural field provides 10 grants, each not exceeding 370 thousand rubles per year, including the graphics and design field with an amount not exceeding 600 thousand rubles per year. Five grants are issued for the painting and sculpture field, each not exceeding 600 thousand rubles per year; the choreography field also provides five grants, each not exceeding 600 thousand rubles per year. The film field includes five grants, each up to 900 thousand rubles per year. The grant allows compensation for up to 100 percent of the cost of paid education at universities in the country.
The expert council for selecting grant recipients includes representatives Moscow Department of Culture, educational organizations in the field of culture and arts, independent experts, well-known public figures, and cultural and art figures.
The Mayor of Moscow’s grants for obtaining higher education in the field of culture and art are a program to support young talents who have demonstrated high creative abilities. The project has been implemented since 2025.
