Beijing, August 21 /Xinhua/ — Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian on Friday called on Japanese authorities to listen to the sensible views of representatives of Japan’s ruling and opposition parties in order to restore bilateral relations.
The official representative made this appeal at the latest departmental press conference in response to a question about media reports that a cross-party delegation of Japanese lawmakers will visit China next week, which is obviously a step aimed at easing tense bilateral relations.
“We take into account that some farsighted figures from the ruling and opposition parties of Japan are deeply concerned about the current state of China-Japan relations and hope to make efforts to bring bilateral relations back on the right track,” said Lin Jian.
According to him, the Japanese authorities should listen to these voices and take them with utmost seriousness, strictly adhere to all the principles enshrined in the four political documents between China and Japan, and also take concrete actions to create the necessary conditions for normal exchanges between the two countries.
