Tehran, April 9 /Xin Hua/ — More than 3,000 people have died on the territory of Iran in the course of the war unleashed at the end of February by the United States and Israel. Approximately 40 percent of the victims required forensic medical examination before the bodies were handed over to families. This was reported by the Iranian Labor News Agency on Thursday.
The head of the Iranian forensic medicine organization, Abbas Masjedi, disclosed relevant data at a commemorative event dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the death of the country’s former supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
A. Masjedi explained the impossibility of initially identifying some bodies by the character of the weapon “used by the enemy during an attack on the civilian population.”
He expressed condolences in connection with the death of officials and civilians in the ongoing month-long conflict in Rhodes.
