Specialists urban utilities complex More than two thousand engineering structures in Moscow will be washed in the run-up to City Day, which will be celebrated this year on September 5 and 6. “Extensive work is planned to clean more than two thousand engineering structures — these include bridges, tunnels, underground and above-ground pedestrian crossings, embankments, piers, fountains, and monuments. More than 250 pieces of equipment and about one thousand utility workers will be involved in total,” noted Petr Biryukov.
Aerial platforms, washing and watering machines, and tunnel washing machines are used for flushing. As part of the work, they will clean and wash structural elements, concrete, metal and glass surfaces, railings, and staircases.
If necessary, specialists will also carry out ongoing repairs of the structures. Road services will put signs, information boards, pointers, safety buffers, noise barriers, barrier and pedestrian fences in order.
Monuments and fountains are washed manually using a special technology with neutral detergents that do not damage surfaces. Alkaline solutions are used for cleaning tunnels and bridges.
