Artificial intelligence (AI) has become one of the most well-known and understood technologies for Muscovites, and interest in it continues to grow. According to according to analysts capital Department of Information Technology (DIT), over the past year, the number of search queries on the topic of artificial intelligence has increased by 175 percent. According to the study, six out of ten respondents noted that they are interested in new technologies, and those who actively follow most trends feel more confident interacting with them than others.
“Muscovites are showing increasing interest in technologies that are already changing everyday life in the city today. According to a survey, 60 percent of residents follow innovations: some study all new developments, others choose specific areas. Artificial intelligence occupies a special place. Research showed that 70 percent of Muscovites acknowledge the high efficiency of AI, and 75 percent are confident that they understand in which areas the technology is useful. City dwellers find artificial intelligence intuitively understandable. However, behind this user simplicity lies a complex infrastructure: large-scale computing, creation of models with billions of parameters, and processing of enormous data arrays,” said Mariam Arevadze, head of the analytical department of the Moscow City Department of Information Technology.
More than 20 new AI projects in a year
Moscow continues to develop projects using artificial intelligence technologies and remains one of the world leaders in this field. As Sergey Sobyanin noted earlier, more than 20 new ones appeared in the capital just last year AI projects, and their total number has already exceeded 130. AI is used in healthcare, transportation, urban planning, and other areas of municipal management.
In Moscow clinics, an AI service prepares summaries from the electronic medical record for doctors about previous visits, examinations, prescribed medications, and emergency calls for the patient, which are relevant to the complaints submitted during online registration. The specialist receives this information before the appointment, which subsequently allows for the most effective consultation. The “MosMedAI” platform, being scaled across the entire country, provides doctors from various regions of Russia access to AI services that help analyze medical images and detect possible pathologies. Earlier, Sergey Sobyanin announced that more than two thousand medical organizations from 75 regions of the country.

Submit meter readings, check school grades
A new version is being tested on the mos.ru portal in the support chat and in the “My Moscow” app digital assistant “Moscow”, which helps residents submit meter readings, learn about their child’s achievements at school, pay utility bills, and much more. And on the portal “Our city” are testing new neural network for determining the subject of the message based on the uploaded photo. Artificial intelligence recognizes flaws in the photos according to nearly 40 topics. This simplifies the application process and makes using the portal even more convenient.
In addition, the AI analyzes screenshots from surveillance cameras and is capable of detecting 43 types of deficiencies in the maintenance of parks, courtyards, roads, and other urban facilities. The data is promptly forwarded to the specialists of the automated administrative offense recording center, who verify the information and send it to the responsible services.
Moscow’s IT Department explained which technologies Muscovites consider the most useful
Capital city projects and AI services also help prepare for lessons, develop program code, obtain necessary information, and much more. You can learn more about city projects based on artificial intelligence on the page special project. It clearly and visually explains how AI models are trained, the principles behind the functioning of different types of artificial intelligence, and how they are applied in capital city projects. Residents can learn more about one of the main smart city technologies, and developers can understand which solutions are in demand in the capital and propose their own AI projects.
The creation, development, and operation of e-government infrastructure, as well as the provision of mass socially significant services and digital services, correspond to the objectives of the national project “Data Economy and Digital Transformation of the State” and the regional project of the city of Moscow “Digital Public Administration.” More about Russia’s national projects and the capital’s contribution can be found at special page.
