Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak held a meeting on the current economic situation. The discussion involved Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Maksim Oreshkin, representatives from the Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Construction, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Labor, and the expert community.
The meeting participants reviewed macroeconomic data for June and the first half of 2026. The main focus was on the dynamics of industrial production, consumer demand, as well as the labor market situation and the parameters of the federal budget.
According to the Ministry of Economic Development’s estimate, over the past six months the economy has grown by 0.6%, indicating a return to a growth trajectory.
As part of the analysis of industry dynamics, indicators of industry, construction, wholesale trade, freight turnover, and consumer activity were discussed. In particular, consumer demand (retail trade, paid services to the population, and public catering) increased by 4.8% in the first half of the year.
The labor market, as noted, remains stable: the unemployment rate in June was 2.2% of the workforce. Real monetary incomes of the population continued to grow in the second quarter.
Alexander Novak instructed to continue detailed monitoring of key macroeconomic indicators, to keep under control the issues of coordinating development programs in the agricultural sector and the fuel and energy complex to maintain the momentum of economic development.
